OK, this isn't much of a story, but I got a thrill out of it.

Beginning of 270 deg. on ramp, new concrete, 2 lanes wide. I'm in the outside lane, tooling along minding my own beeswax, when a 5 series jumps on my tail, close up. So I squeeze the throttle down to see if he's serious - and he just stays glued on back there. Adrenaline starts to pump...

Squeeeze the throttle some more, begin to pull some lateral Gs, anticipate ramp exit (270 deg. ramps seem to go on forever), exit at full throttle, to redline in second, in third now, triple digits on the speedo. Check mirror, Beemer looks like he just hit warp drive, except in reverse.

Back off quickly, back to highway speeds, on to work.

Marauder rocks.

I got owned by a 5-series at the strip. I had him off the line and pulling away at the 1/8th. Then he got on the button and finished 14.1 @114.

That was a sick feeling.

Poor Reaper. So young, so naive. Reaper, you must seek the advice of oneof our wise old masters......

RF Overlord are you prepared to take this young man under your wing (obscure reference to the SR-71 Blackbird name)?

Now if I could get rid of these S(tupid) UV's I could have some fun? I hate when the try to "push" from behind. Love this car on on/off ramps
Beware the power of the DARK side.:P

Too bad you couldn't tell if it was a 525 or a 540...anything can beat a 525.

A yuppie is a person who buys a "botique" nameplate that doesnt care or know what he or she gettin as long as it has BMW on it.... and so on. Well at least thats one of the many symptoms. These are the people who care more about their addresses than their neighbors. See also poseur or pretender. ; ) To put it simple most ricers that obtain gainfull employment mutate into yuppies in later life.

1984 633CSi. Totally different experience from the Marauder, and IMHO
the best looking/driving car BMW produced that was fairly affordable. Mine had a sticker of $44.5 K back in '84....no, I did not buy it new.
This has 160K now, rides and drives without a rattle or squeak. 100MPH feels like 45, LOL! This old guy still likes to have a coupe around.

Best to all,

Paul:D

525's are easy prey, Did in a Honda at the lights the other day. More of his lack of prowess than hp though. One of those with the big cannon sticking out the back making sewing machine sounds. His front tires went up in smoke. Looked real gross. But, it's a different generation. I had Bowie on, he had rap. To each his own I guess.

Wow, I guess it's safe to admit now. I once owned a rare '73, 2002 turbo 4-speed. The girls HATED it, but it would outrun a vic in it's day.

When the stick shifter broke off at the floor whilste hammerin' it on the freeway.......I sold it.

I was definately not a yuppy, ...........hair too long. I think I was a hippie? :rasta:

In the north: Rare=rust..........lots.

I have a picture somewhere with it airborn (all 4 off the ground) on this road near Tacoma when I was in the service. I will post if I find.

This thread was supposed to be about eatin' beemers, not re-kindling old memories!

Where I live yuppie is an attitude. Yes I knew what the acronym was but we dont use the term for that here anymore. Nothing wrong with bein upwardly mobile or young. ; ) It's the pretentious ones I like to smite with the Marauder. Nothing like watching egos deflate. Guess it's just me. ; )
