How is the self leveling rear air bag system adjusted to Lower the car ?
I know there is an adjustment, but I could never find it on my crown vic and doubt I can find it on this one. Anyone have pics of the adjustment ?
Thank you
It is on the watts link.
There will be an 8mm and 11mm nut holding it in place.
Move the bracket toward the drivers side to lower, passenger side to raise it.

Does the car have to be up in the air to do this and is there a gauge to tell just how far you have dropped it.

BillyG,
Does the car have to be on stands or would it be better on ramps?

Try to leave it on the ground. Any adjustment with the wheels off the ground would not be good. Thats why you turn it off before jacking to change a tire. JMO.

This is not meant to contradict your thoughts, but I did mine in the air with the air pump off. This is just to let you know that it can be done safely either way ;)

I just did the metco watts link on friday with the car on the ground. 1. if you leave the air bag system on and loosen the bracket, sliding it to the drivers side will alert the system to let air out of the airbags and the car will start to lower. BE CAREFUL. if you are in a tight spot or kind of a big guy, the car may come down on you. the system will stop if you fool the sensor that it has reached it's limit. it's kind of simple but cool to see it work.
Has anyone tried this with the key in the ignition? the airbags may actually fill up to compensate when the bracket is adjusted to the passenger side.
anyway, good luck all.:pimp:

I'm sorry for my delayed response "BigHouse". I've never performed the task you're speaking of, so I wouldn't have an answer for you on that one anyway. But it sounds as if you're getting some good info from the others on that.

This is great. Cause once I heat my front spring with a match for four days and car lowers I can lower my rear end.
It's already black. All I need is the dingle balls. I have to add some antanae's, pom-poms, and the celifane seat covers with the little dog in the back with head that goes up and down. And I'm IN THERE baby:pimp:

Has anyone ridden with the air bags off (accidently or intentionally) and if so what lead you to the fact that it was off?

The "AIR SUSP" light comes on if you leave the switch off...

IIRC RF Overlord did that before. I turn mine off when I go to the track and when I'm on the Dyno

Then take her over to a sign shop and have them make as sticker of you family name in Olde English Script for the rear window and then you're IN THERE!:beatnik:

IIRC RF Overlord did that before. Yes, I did...when I first got the Backbird, I though you only turned the air suspension on when heavily loaded or when towing...I later found that to be wrong, but it didn't seem to bother anything driving around with it off...I leave it on now.
