Help! My car has a squeak that I'm pretty sure is not from the chassis or suspension. It only pops up after the car has been driven 15-20 minutes and has warmed up. It seems to be coming from the engine bay, which leads me think that something there is heating up, expanding, and rubbing on something else.

Of course, the repair people drive it and don't hear anything, but at normal road speeds (>30mph), with the radio and air conditioner going, you can't hear it.

Anyone familiar with the engine compartment have any ideas about what it might be? Car is stock, BTW.

Thanks!!!

yes--It is probably one of the 3 points of the hood hinge--most likely the front part--there is a TSB I believe on this --not sure--ask 'frdwrnch" -he is a service mgr on the MM and he has one---it just takes a moment to correct--I believe he can enlighten you more on this--it should be no big deal---Tom

Thanks for that! I was thinking it may be the hood or hood latch; my hood wobbles a little on the left side while driving. But the sound seemed like it was coming from lower down. I guess it's hard to tell exactly from the driver's seat.

Great! I have some things to try. I appreciate it!

I had the exact same problem..and the squeeking nearly drove me crazy. I messed around with the hood latches, supports, etc and fixed it in about 10minutes. Hasn't been back since either.

Yep, the driver's side hood support bumper was too low. Raised it up, greased the latch, and no more squeak. Annoying hood bounce is gone, too. Gonna loctite it this weekend.

Thanks for the help!!

One more possibility. I had the same type of squeak. Took it to Team Ford, and Scott and I rode around for about 30 minutes. Finally found out it was a belt squeak that occurred when the a/c compressor kicked on. If you are using a/c, try driving without and seeing if the squeak occurs. If not, then that's it. When we pulled the belt, and looked up the current part #, FLM had updated/changed the P/N, and we used the new belt. No problems since. Good Luck.:2thumbs:
