Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the info. I've learned by browsing the forums. I'm picking up my MM Mon. ( 300A) and was wondering if there is anything specific I should look for when I pick it up. (eg. Hidden factory flaws /mistakes etc. that you guys notice only after you owned it for awhile.) When I test drove this car I noticed a wire connector protruding out the top middle of the rear window. Any ideas what this is? Again, thanks for everything and am looking forward to participating in alot more discussions.

Welcome. I'd say 1 watch the paint. Mines cool but a lot have reported paint issues here. 2 make sure everything works, thats a given. 3 do not repeat do not let the dealer fill out the delivery questionaire. 4 check the wheels over very carefully especially at the edges to make sure there is no clearcoat damage. I'm sure there will additions to these from others. also CONGRATS AND WELCOME TO OUR LITTLE GANG.

Check the leather wrap on the back side of the wheel, right hand spoke. Also, put some music on and crank up the bass - see if the rear deck rattles.
Also on the first drive, lock out OD, manually shift from 1st through 3rd, then unlock OD. See if it goes into OD without playing with the shifter.

Welcome Tom - Gook luck with your new ride. As you probably know by now this is the best site pertaining to the MM. Thanks to Logan and LML. John :)

Other than the obvious with the paint, look in the rear door openings, lower rear corners. Many cars seem to have thin paint there

Make sure you have a regular size spare tire in the trunk and not a donut, (300A). Ensure you have the proper mats, (Marauder). That wire sticking out the back could be for XM radio signal, ask your dealer to confirm. Make sure what is listed on the invoice is exactly what you are getting. Welcome aboard Tom K.

Gonzo.....Are you telling me I spent $80 on and XM antenna and didn't need it? The lead could be from wither the embedded radio antenna, or the rear window defrost, one on each side, beign disconnected.

Gonzo, does the car have an XM antenna? I have XM from a previous vehicle and it would be great not to have to stick an antenna anywhere. Nothing about it in manual.

The car does not come with an XM antenna...the connectors on either SIDE of the rear window are for the defroster, the one at the top middle of the window is for the AM/FM radio, and it's not very good...
Seems to me the manufacturers went to an "in the windscreen" antenna for a while, back in the late 70's/early 80's, but it sucked so badly they all went back to the mast type. The rear window version in our cars is only a little better than the first ones...
If I listened to the radio much, I'd put a real antenna on it...

Thanks for all the tips. I'm leaving to pick it up in a couple of hours and have an updated checklist. I've owned a lot of cars but this one makes me feel like I did when I was going to pick up my first car ever. ( 1971 Super Bee )

I've read some postings where people had some problems but so far I love my car. Also I would suggest you make sure there's no scratches when you take delivery. I have a few and plan to have it detailed when the weather gets nice. Also has anyone went to the dealer concerning how the car pulls to right? I think you'll love the car and I know how you feel this is the first car I've wanted in a long while. Mine was was demo and had a little over 5,000 miles on it so it 's basically already broke in.
so far I'm real happy with my cars performance. The people who want a car that smokes tires should looked at something else. All I know when I accelerate my car really hauls balls. As far as I'm concerned this is the perfect "MID-LIFE" car. You get plently of performance, comfort and it's very roomy. I went to Kansas City a couple of weeks ago and had a Caddy STS want to try me and either he chickened out or my car had better performance. On my way back I had a Maroon Chevy SS 94 -96 that we had some fun and I seemed to have more power.

Became a Marauder owner on 2-27-2003. I stumbled upon this site while researching the MM and find it very informative. It helped me take the plunge. Haven't been able to drive it as work is getting in the way and now the snow. For now I just look at it in the garage before I leave for work. 103 miles on it.

i dont get it..what the big deal about letting the sale person fill out the questionare?

tbore:
It depends on how you view car salesmen in general...most of us believe that the salesman will always fill it out with top marks for eveything, like they were the world's most perfect dealer. If you fill it out yourself, then it's apt to be more realistic (read: honest).
Of course, that's a$$uming you believe anyone at FORD actually even READS the questionnaire or gives a ***** what it says it the first place...
