After abt 130 or so passes on Bill Hall's car, the transmission finally went south. It slips in and out of 3rd gear. The slower you are going, the worse it is. Note this is an early 03 with the 4R70W. More details to come when we get it tore down.

U mean 130 passes at the dragstrip? That's quite a lot. Are you surprised?

srI DO pound on my car quite often on the street. But that's different than at the track because due to the traction compound they put on the track, your tires grip a lot harder, and therefore upon take-off, a greater amount of force is going through the drivetrain since the tires aren't spinning as much. Not to mention that you're going at full throttle from 0-100+MPH, and that's very rare that you'll do that on the street.
I've put 20 quartermile runs on my car, and that's plenty for me since it's my daily driver. So far the transmission has held up very well. Anyway, keep us updated Bill.

Was this trans stock or were there some mods done to it if so what kind of mods did you have?

Hmmm....good excuse to "pre-disaster" the tranny while I sitll have a bit of new car warranty left.....

And racing your cars will void the warranty. Proof can come in the form of a photograph or video... I even recall one Cobra R owner being declined in-warranty repair for a thrown belt because the dealer said he must have raced his Cobra R(ace).

Well, it is now looking like a tuning issue. Inspected the transmission and no problems found. It is looking like a convertor lockup issue. The tuner had it a while back to make a seperate tune for drag radials and for street tires. Evidently something he changed has affected the torque convertor lockup. Back to the tuner it goes.
