Well i was feeling a little jealous about BillyGMan having the great marauder video so i went out yesterday, armed with the frustration of not taking first in the Fun Ford Weekend and shot some clips in preparation of making my own video. I have about a minute and a halfs worth of video already but i still need about 2.5 minutes of fillers in order to make it long enough for the song i wanna use. As soon as i get it done i'll try to find a host for it and give everyone the link. Until then here are some stills designed to whet the appitite.

Please note, i am aware that this video will in no way compare to the BillyGMan video, but i hope that it will be liked by at least some of you. Hope you enjoy the pics and i'll be sure to let everyone know when the video is finished.

I was at Circuit City Last thursday exchanging a cell phone.
I looked into the bag I brought with and can you guess what was in there?
Yep it was a copy of BillyGMan's DVD (He sent me a copy).I asked a guy in the TV dept. If there was a Player handy on the showroom that we could use to view it:P
He asked "What is it?"
I said "a wicked sick Burnout of a Marauder " he quickly replied "cool!, there is one over here!"
He proceeded to pop the disc into the player, and I asked him, "how loud can we play it?"
He replied after looking around the store,"how about eight?" I smiled and said,"That should be Just Right!;) "It did not take but a few moments till several employees including the store manager to wander over to see what we were up to.
By the time it was half way through a small crowd had gathered and they were short on words till the second burnout was starting.
I guy from behind me asked me ,"Is that your car?"
I could not pretend,I replied, "no!" "It is a member of a website that I belong to"
They all thought it was cool. And kept firing questions at me about the vid and the car.
Each one had a little story to share about a friend or a car they had years ago.
Sorry to hijack your Thread, I just love a good burnout. And I am even getting to enjoy the smell:rolleyes:
Must be an aquired taste:lol:

Brad, your story was cracking me up!!! :baaa: Darknight, don't sell yourslf short. My vid is well liked, but it isn't like it can't be topped. The one thing that I could've did in that vid which I decided not to do, was dougnuts, which by the looks of your pics, is what you've included in your video. i was worried about punishing the posi-unit on my car because I was told by a well known engine tuner that doughnuts are punishing to the posi-clutches.
Don't underestimate the choice of an appropriate song. The song sets the mood of your audience, and it will be your most crucial choice in the making of your video. That might sound like an exaggeration on my part, but you'll see what I mean when you go to put your video to the song.It isn't an easy task to find the right song for a burnout video. If the song in question doesn't have the right tempo, it will make your video look all wrong. I for one never thought that producing and editing a burnout video with music would be as involved as it turned out to be, but it certainly does get very involving. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing it as soon as you're done!:banana2:
Was there a car in all that smokyness?!

Thanks Guys!,
I left out that this was not just a TV it was one of those High tech outfits(wega) that was almost as wide as my reach.:o
Any body that has met me,Knows, there is no member on the board, who I can't wrap my go-rilla arms all the way around! LOL:coolman: This was the first time I saw the vid on a huge TV.
We also watched and made copies this past Saturday in Cedar Falls waiting to see if the rain would stop so we could go back to the Drag strip.
PS I am thinking of carrying it with me again, Just in case the opportunity presents itself again(cause my immediate family has it memorized):D

PS where did I put that disc again?.........,:thinker: oh yea!,

This was a serendipitous event - song was on the radio while the wife was driving and I was playing with a new cheapie digital video webcam gizmo. You are looking out of a Crown Vic, but you can pretend it's a Marauder if you like.:D

Was there a car in all that smokyness?!
I also made the, very large, mistake of opening the door to talk to my camera man directly after finishing that video shoot, umm, suffice to say that was a smokey ride home, there was a haze from me to my gauges so i cruised with the windows down for a while and everything was ok, except for the fact that i took about 75% of the remaining treadlife off my nearly brand new KDW2s, oh well, some sacrifices must be made!!!!!:D
I know about the dangers of donuts to clutch limited-slip, i only did enough to make the 4 clips and i don't plan to do anymore for a long while, the filler video is going to be some shots of me at the strip, maybe some of me driving around town, etc., just some stuff that look cool and fill the time slot of the song, i have over 3K on my iPod so i have some narrowing down to do, i have a really good idea of the one i want to use already (Sex Type Thing by Stone Temple Pilots) but with all those songs i might have something better. LET THE EDITING PROCESS BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!

Working on it. I have the song picked, narrowed down from a feild of 15, i decided to go with bodies by drowning pool but the vrienna remix from the movie xXx. I beleive this song was suggested to you billyg when you first went to make ur burnout video. I have a good idea of something i would like to film as an opening sequence for this. I have all the vids of the donuts and i have the converter to change .MOV to .MPEG, but i still need approx 2.5 minutes of filler video and my camera man is going to indy for the 500 this weekend. I'm gonna try to get it all in in the next few nights because once i get the final vids finished i can work on converting them to .MPEG. This step may take a day because it is a drawn out process converting every frame and sound to a different format, then i have to add titles transitional effects and order the movie, add the song and then after that i am going to put it on CD and have a my techie friend encode it in MPEG-1 level format and put it on DVD, i will also have a version converted to either .AVI or MPEG-4 and i will post that version on the web somewhere. Don't worry guys, it's coming, patience is a virtue!!!

DK, if you mean the song "Let the bodies hit the floor" yes, I remember that one. that's one crazy soing alright. but I think that with that song as your back round, you'll need to edit your vid, so that the scenes switch frequently, and there's going to have to be alot of action shots of your car moving around instead of it standing still with the tires spinning because the tempo of that song is so quick. but good luck!!! :banana2:

The remixed version of the song is different than the normal one, but yes you are right, there cannot be too many static shots as they would not look right, this is not really a "Burnout" Video i will remind everyone. I have about 1 minutes worth of donut footage, the filler will be video from me racing at the Fun Ford Weekend, and me driving around town taken by chase cars, static cameramen, etc. It's not going to be all tire smoking but that will be a decent part of it. I have a few things planned already but we'll see how it looks once i get it all assembled because my minds eye may see it a little differently from how it actually is.

I have a couple videos of my own MM at about uh....3:00 AM? Merging onto a highway. Camera work is pretty bad but quality is great...only reason I did that was because I wanted videos on my hard drive so I can listen to my 4.6L DOHC 300HP Engine when I am on the computer. No joke.

I really wanted to use that as one of my clips but after searching through all the clips he finally told me he missed it, needless to say he got noogies pretty bad.

The cul de sac where me and a few friends (one in a Gen-1 Lightning and the other in a fully done up racing Monte Carlo) did these donuts is right off 130, right next to the 130 exit on 195, and right near Yardville-Hamilton Square Rd. It is part of a small industrial complex that is right next to Clockner Middle School. It is actually where I learned how to drive manual transmission at. That is the only reason i knew about that place and how "remote" it is. Only thing near it are offices (closed on weekends) a school (closed on weekends) and the nearest houses are at least .5 mile away.
May be a small delay in getting the video ready, my camera guy is leaving tomorrow for Indy, not friday, i'm gonna have to call a few other friends in to be drivers and filmers, i have everything set up the way i want, just need a few more shots to get it just right. I'm actually really happy that this generated as much interest as it did, i hope you all like it and it's just not some big let down, like Godzilla the movie. Remember that, they built it up for almost a year and everyone thought it was gonna be amazing, oh well, at least broderick isn't in my video.:baaa:

Since I know firsthand of how involved it can be shooting and editing a burnout video with music to it, and making it turn out impressive, and enjoyable for others to watch, I for one wouldn't be very disappointed in seeing your end result unless you were to build it up to be the best ever, only to see that it didn't even show hardly any smoke at all. And I'm sure that won't be the case.
I learned that when you go and try to put something together like this that is worth saving, there's so many things to consider and that need to be done right. The camera angle, the lighting, the weather, the angle of the sun at the time of the shoot, the backround, which side of the car to shoot from, what tires to use, what type of camera, time of day, day of the week, location, how much room you have, what RPM to run it up to, what gear to be in, how long you'll hold the burnout for, and how much you want the camera man to move around if at all.
And then when you decide on the best technique for all of those elements, you then have to communicate and relate them all to your camera man, because both you and him have to be on the same page, or he's going to just do it his own way, and it won't come out the way you planned it. And after wasting a set of your tires, it's aggrivating if you learn afterwards, that your camera man didn't shoot it the way that you wanted, or he cut out the part of the car that you wanted to be emphasized. And if that happens, you're then in no position to make any demands from him for a second shoot on another day (after you get another set of tires:rolleyes: ) since he just did for you as a favor anyway, and it isn't like he's charging you for his time.
And then comes the editing. And that again is a whole other ball of wax! Especially if you don't have the software, and you have to then communicate to someone else how you want it edited (which parts to keep and which to cut out, and how to sinc it to your music choice, as well as how to edit the music clip if need be). And that can take hours. Literally!!! It really gets intense. More so than I ever imagined it would be. When you include music, it just becomes a whole other ballgame. It really becomes a production. I'm routing for ya!! Good Luck!!!:banana2:

1. Cue music.
2. Floor it.
3. Tires spin.
4. Smoke pours out!
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for 4 minutes or until music stops.

Just funnin' ya Billy!Believe me John, that's exactly what I thought before I went and put one together. But if you have part of the song that you don't want in there, and it has to be edited, and then the sound of steel belts coming out of your tires is at the last few seconds of the clip and has to be cut out, and then you want the mood and dramatic parts of the instrumental of the song to sinc with certain parts of one or two of the 4 or 5 burnouts you included in your video, it DOES get to be very involved trying to piece it all together. Not to mention the fact that you then have to time your burnout the next time around so that you finish it BEFORE the steel belts come out of the tires, while at the same time both you and your camera man are buried in so much smoke that neither one of you can see around you, and you as the driver have to be concerned about running him over while you're coming out of the smoke cloud with the go pedal pinned to the floor! It isn't easy to get it just right, and it takes timing. Trust me on this.
Just look at my video again, and you'll see that at the end of the first scene after my car exits the smoke cloud, you then can see apearing out of nowhere, my camera man walking out of the smoke cloud too. he was completely buried. I don't know how the guy was even breathing! Atleast I was able to keep the windows on the car closed. So it all depends on how crazy you want to get. If you simply do one burnout in your video, and it's merely the garden variety every day burnout, or you don't put music to it, it's a piece of cake. but if you really want to be creative with it, or do something spectacular, it takes some planning, and time to edit it too.

I guess ill have to mke a video of me topping over 140 mph from inside the car and simply blast the song of my choice over the radio! lol Now thats a video idea. Pull over on a empty highway late at night, Start a burnout and pull out of it blazing up to 140mph while a kick ass song plays in the background. It would give the feeling of going that fast in a marauder for the owners who choose to keep it under 80!

almost done i know i've been dragging my feet here but i only have a few shots left, then i thought i might do a cool little thing after the end of the vid because every single one of my friends and family members have a performance car, plus i have a song i've always wanted to make a driving vid with but wouldn't be right for a burnout vid so i might stick that in there in like a little thing.i really gotta get workin on this, i'm gonna go make some calls and try to recruit a few camera men right now!!!!!!
