Hello everyone:

I got the jacket on friday, and in the package came a neat foil sticker.
I am wondering if everyone else got one as well. I understand that MOST of you got your jackets a LONG time ago and if you did get the sticker, either you can't find it, threw it away, or already stuck it on something.

My wife suggested that I use her fancy circle cutter (scrapbooking tool), and cut out the center Gods head from the sticker along the silver ring and see if fits over the steering wheel icon.

What do you know, it's a perfect cover. Carefully applied with no bubbles and watching for creases on the edges, it looks great.

What a perfect temporary solution. And being it's a FOIL sticker, it wont fail from moisture.

Just a thought, I personally think it looks too cool.:coolman:

Man, do i hate that hockey stick steering wheel badge thingie. I just want to pry it off of there and stare at an empty recess. i like the sticker idea, i got one and put it in the marauder folder, but i want a more permant fix.

I wouldnt mind doing it, but i wonder how long it will hold up? Will the sides start to pull up? Well, i give you credit, good idea.

Cruz: I expect my jacket to come any day now. What's a "fancy circle cutter (scrapbooking tool)" and where do we get one? Does it have to come with a wife. 'cuz I really don't want to get one of those just yet.....

Got my jacket for my wife, I hate sheepskin, well the thin, fancy stuff... Anyhow, it came with 2 or 3 of the stickers. Got everything put away.

I am calling the 800 number on monday and telling them my sticker was crinkled, and I want another.

Tip: Use an exacto knife, and DO NOT lift the blade as you move the decal in a circle. When cutting stay to the OUTSIDE of the silver ring, it fits better. My bad, I cut to inside and its a tad too small. Clean the area with rubbing alchohol, and apply in center working your way to the outside edges. The factory icon is not flat, be carefull not to crease the sticker when applying. I centered it, then lightly heated with a heat gun (or hair dryer) and that softens the decal and you can work the edges smooth.

PS: SLOWPOKE: I did the rear badge retrofit, damn it looks good, but you guys didn't tell me ALL your secrets.............

I got my jacket a couple of weeks ago and there were two stickers, why didn't they use something simlar on the front and rear. I guess they want it to look more like a Ford.

Cruztaker,

I'd love to see what your wheel looks like with the sticker. Take a picture and post it.

If it looks like I think it will ... I'll take my sticker down off the bulletin board in my office and turn it into a steering wheel decoration.

Thanks.

When I got my jacket, the sticker was attached to the outside of the box. I did not get an extra one.

CRUZ -

Could you post a picture.

^^^^^^That's it!^^^^^^
It looks just LIKE THAT.

Good thing too, cause I don't have a digital camera. I still rely on good old fashioned 35mm and a flatbed scanner. It would have taken a week to get a picture posted.

Thanks DirectedBy.

Late one night, back in December, I found a BUNCH of pics of the S55 from SEMA showing that steering wheel pic and the red/black interior, godhead badge on front and rear....etc. I forgot to bookmark and have tried to find again to no avail.

Did you find those pics for the steering wheel above? Please send me the link if you did...

Thanks,

So, how is the sticker holding up on the steering wheel? Are the edges peeling back? If not, i may do that. I really like the look. Thanks for the picture.

Has anyone tried contacting the company that made the special emblems for the S55?

You all need to know before you get your hopes up, the decal is foil, and although it will have a long life span, it's rigid.

The wheel icon is concaved. I had trouble with the first try, I cut a little big. OUTSIDE the silver circle. Edges won't cooperate after a few days. I tried heating the decal before application, and so far that has worked. Also cut to the inside of the silver circle. Somewhat of a ***** to center. It was good I had a couple to work with. Vinyl would definately work better and not come up around the edges.

Therefore, I have warned you. My idea is not 100%. I will likely pursue a graphic designer. It would be possible to mass produce, actually the ONLY way to get her to run the press. I can only estimate, maybe $200 for a run of 400. Just a guess. I have to talf to her. I have another outlet as well. They are working on reproduction '63 marauder graphics for me now. No prices yet.

I'd wait, or find some type of prep adhesive.....I'd wait

CRUZ, that price is reasonable. Even allowing for a profit margin, a few bucks each is still good, especially if the product is better suited for the use...count me in for a couple or three of those...
