View Full Version : Warranty Question-Technical Bulletins?

My stock '03 300A is at about 35,700 miles. The Ford/Mercury site appeares to have technical bulletins out for the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis but not the MM (I wonder why??).
Are their any warranty issues any of y'all would request a Ford/Mercury dealer to address or inspect prior to passing the 36,000 mile mark? I have been a pretty laid back driver . . . so far.
Thank you for the response/opinions, including redirecting me to a place where this question may have already been answered.

Speaking of warranty what ever happened to ford making a new head to cure the ticking?
maybe checking out the rear axle bearings for wear and tear too. :D

Although there are a number of TSBs out for the MM, a lot of them cosmetic, the one you might want to REALLY pay attention to is the one concerning the rear axle shafts. I had no noise or other symptoms, but the tech who installed my 4.10s pointed out the wear...my local Ford dealer performed the TSB with no hassle at all...

If you want a list of the TSB's for the 03 here it is. This is a handy link on my Progressive Insurance account at their website. It shows TSB's on all my cars on the policy. By the way, you think 9 TSB's is bad, my 350Z has 55!

I first thought 55 TSB's were bad but I just saw where my Ranger has 203. Thats a lot of glitches.

My 300A also had the "Soft axle" problem. It was discovered during my gear swap by the machanic. I had him reassemble the rear and I took it back to Ford and had most of the rear end of the car rebuilt under warranty. I never noticed any glaring problems, but after getting it back it was noticeably quieter and smoother on the highway. What I would do if your worried about it is take it in and complain about rear axle noise. Hopefully they will at least take it apart and inspect it due to the TSB.
Here is the link to my post on the problem with some pics too.

What about this light / hi-speed steering problem report? What can be done about that? At higher speed my car feels super reponsive and twitchy, but I just figured that was the way it was supposed to be. When you're moving that fast every steering correction feels magnified. Does anyone know what the problem is/was beyond this TSB?
Thanks for any info.

Our cars have speed sensitive power steerings. When you are moving slow, the power steering helps you more, making it easier to parallel park. When you are cruising the highway, there is less power added, so you get a better feel for the road.
The TSB sounds like it's about failure of the speed sensitive parts.
