I suspect it's after. I really doubt you can buy a new Marauder for $23802.76 after rebate from any one.

You'll have to contact them. It's still a great price

I overlooked this post. Actually once I noticed the car was in Everette., and you are in N. Cal. (where na), I realized what you meant.

But that is by no means ACROSS the country. That's a ROAD TRIP! Even a one-way flight to SEA-TAC and and 475 mile "get-to-know-ya" ride home.

I once was stationed in Tacoma, and made the trip to Portland regularly. I-5 has some nice spots.............zoom-zoom

Sorry ladies and gents but... You are gonna pay the shipping no matter where you live and It is the same for all of us on this hemisphere. This is the auto companies attemp to equal it out for the cali consumers who usually dont buy anything made on this continent I might add. Of couse I'm talkin about the delivery charge...

Yes vader, but that's shipping from factory to dealer. He's talking about shipping from dealer to his home in CA

Diocles

True the delivery charge is already figured into the quote price (not the MSRP) but the $800 plus charge from Dependable Auto Shippers (TN to CA) is not.

I just ordered the Silver Birch from a dealer in New Castle, DE. He told me that he can get me the $3500 cash back, & $500 over the Dealer invoice. He also gave me "price protection", if the"Cash Back" is more @ delivery I would get the higher incentive.
My cost 29,155. I was happy w/ that & very surprised that he was able to give me the rebate, if not I wouldn't have ordered it.
So much for "Takiing dealer Stock".

When I was looking at a Dodge Stratus R/T (before I heard of the Marauder) I was told the "Taking delivery from dealer stock" was jsut to get the people in the showroom.

To make a sale -
25% Feet into the showroom
50% Butt in the seat, on the road
20% Pricing
5% Salesman himself

A dealer told me that if I orderd a car, rather than taking one from stock, I would get the rebate as long as the car was delivered before the end of the latest rebate plan. (The way that car sales and the economy in general are going, the rebates on certain cars should be around for a while.)

Also, whether I got the rebate or not, I would still get the benefit of the Ford a-Z plan.

Bottom line: MSRP $34,845; pay $27,865.

I have not taken the deal.

I also have a silver birch on order and was told that I would get whatever rebate is in effect at the time of delivery. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and don't have a build date yet.

Did your dealer give you an idea of how long it would be before your car is delivered?

Dok, No delivery date.
I was expecting a call the next day to tell me that they were mistaken about the rebate. I was completely surprised that he could give that offer.
I went to that dealer because his inventory on the internet stated that he had a black, 300b w/ heated seats. I had my game face on & was going to tell him that I wanted it for 25K. I didn't get that far because the car was sold a few days earlier.
I wanted the silver over black, but felt it couldn't compare w/ a deal on the black in stock. I've been looking @ this car since August, but couldn't pull the trigger on the cost.

maybe he meant "new MM" as in "different type of car". i doubt a new untitled MM for $24,284 with tax and tag, even doubt that without tax and tag. might be a trouble maker trying to get a rise out of us. have seen them used for that thou. had seen an used one on e-bay that was a flood car for that approx. amount. used wholesale pricing is approxitmately $22,500 with miles in the teens.

I'm the "guy from Chicago, flying in" for this deal. No tax, no title, no license, the "out the door" price quoted by salesman Walt Wells, is $24,188.57.

I asked to see a sales contract with those nubmers and he promised to Fed-Ex that to me overnight. I'm still waiting. However, once word got out about this deal, I may be out of the running because of a run on his stock.

When (and if) I get a signed contract, I'll let you know here, what the bottom line is on that paper, and if it matches his telephone promise.

Until then, call Walt, and make your best deal...Let us know?

Update added 14 Mar. 03, 1522 hr.

Got the contract by Fed Ex, it's a real deal at 24,188.57...Y'all go fer it, cheapest MM on the planet.

Actually, I paid that $24188 that SergntMac quoted for the car, by the time they got done with the bookkeeping fees, or whatever, it was the $242** It is a real deal. and im no troublemaker. :)

I went to the KC auto show on Sunday and showed up at the dealer at 10am monday, 1 had already been sold that day, + mine, and the 2 out of towners coming in. My salesman had to fight off 2 other couples that were wanting to test drive mine.

I was tryin to hold out for a 2005 mustang, but the auto show deal was too good to pass up on the Marauder and the wife had commented about a month ago she liked the Marauder so, its in the garage now. good luck to the rest of you perspective buyers!

I know I'm beating a dead horse on this w/ the men who already own, but I want to get this out for the men you are shopping or have one on order like me.
Check out "American Quarter Horse Association" (aqha.com). Ford is one of their sponsors & are offering their members $500
incentive on the purhase of any Ford Motor Co. vehicle.
I joined last week, cost $30.00 annual membership. They emailed
back in a day w/ a welcome & permanent member ID#.
Then in Thursdays' Philadelphia Inquire, I saw an 1/2 page add
on the Marauder w/ incentives & other discounts your cost: $26,8....
They did show a VIN#, so I call to put my mind @ ease. Nope, they got 15 in stock. Yup, all Black. (ends 3/31???) Reedmen is the dealership in Langhorne PA. (I don't have the add in front of me)
So I stop @ my dealer on Friday nite armed w/ the add & my new fondness for horse racing.
He agreed to knock off another $1000, I'm now @ $28,155 + tax/tags.
ETA on the "Silver Birch" is 4/7. When I go to pick it up, I'll try to beat some lunch money out of him, 28K even.

Wow. How do you get a dealer to give you a good price like that on a Marauder?

I read this thread last week and went to Baranco (http://baranco.com) Lincoln-Mercury in Duluth Saturday to see how motivated they were in selling me a Marauder.

They had three Marauders on the lot. All of them were stickered at $34845. One had 20-something miles on it, another had 70-something, and the one I test-drove had over 100.

I told the salesman that I wanted payments under $500/month. They worked the number and the first offer was around $620/month. Told them we'll talk if they get it under $500. So the salesman went back and came back with $590-something. That's giving me the car at invoice. I told them thanks for their time and left.

Those same three Marauders were there two weeks ago, too. I figured they'd be a bit more motivated in unloading them.

I know a couple of you work in the automotive industry, maybe you can 'splain it to me...

A dealer has to start paying for a car as soon as it's delivered, just like you and I do, right? So WHY on earth would they NOT want a car off their lot ASAP? I understand they need to make a profit to stay in business, and selling cars below invoice doesn't accomplish this, but just taking my dealer, for example, they received a new MM a few weeks ago. As of last Friday, it's just sitting in a long line of GMs in the back of their lot, no special attention, no advertising, nothing. How do they expect to sell it for ANY price, if no one knows it's there? I asked the salesman where it was and he told me: "It's in the back, over that way" and waved his hand vaguely...took me 10 minutes to find it...if they have NO INTENTION of pushing it, why did they even buy it in the first place?

BTW, if anyone's keeping track of these things, the window sticker says 01-14-03, and it has a manual fuel door, TC, no separate dash clock, no rear speaker grilles, and the shift bezel is not chrome; it was locked, so I couldn't tell if it has the automatic parking brake release...

Ad in NY area paper showing a new MM for $27,995 in VERY BIG print (as part of a full page ad). That's cheap by NY prices. No mention of rebates....I wonder of they can advertise post rebate prices without indicating that that is how the prioce is calculated? This price is $1,000 less than I paid 2 months ago.

If anyone is reading and not buying, what are you waiting for?

04-07-2003, 02:12 PM
RF You are correct in stating a dealer has to start paying as soon as a car arrives on his lot. I don't know what there motive is, as I stated before my local dealer has 5 MM's on his lot with the newest build date 09/02. The cars are really getting beat due to the weather and test drives. John

Man, that just sucks eggs...like marty said, what is everyone waiting for? It's not like young people don't like them (see the thread on "youngest Marauder owner"), and we middle-aged fahrts like them, so why aren't they selling?

By the way, because I just couldn't resist going in when I was at a Nissan dealer next door (it's the GF's turn for a new car), I went into another L/M dealer in my area. He had a 300A on the lot built on 6/13/02. The car is almost a year old. If I had been patient, and waited (yeah, like that'll ever happen), I could have probably gotten one of these cars for half price!!

Yes. Where is the advertising? I read a post on another board discussing this, and someone posted that if the car were popular like the Mustang, it wouldn't need advertising, as the Mustang also isn't advertised much. This logic of course id flawed. The first Mustangs were heavily advertised. They weren't performance screamers then either. People were made to feel they just had to have one. Billboards, TV and radio ads, print ads in every paper and magazine.
What does the Marauder get? Some hype on the Internet, a Speedvision special (that not every one gets) ads in magazines like Hot Rod and Rod and Custom, that not everyone reads, and brief flashes, unmentioned in the odd TV commercial for Mercury.

I too still meet people who have no clue that the Marauder was ever built again, and still others who haven't looked for themselves, and quote lame magazine reviews that said the car is "slow".

Same price for that SVT Cobra, or our ride... Hmmmm
