Our Steering Wheel?

I was just curious to know how much a new stock steering wheel cost
w/out the air bag? I was guessing like 450.00? My car only has 14,000
on it but I dont like the way the leather has worn. Just wanted to know
how many of you have replaced your wheel.

Ya have a Warranty, but at the 12 o'clock position its got that "shine" to
it like a warn leather wheel if you know what I mean. I don't think it
clashes with a warrenty issue though, its just got a "warn in" look to it.....

I got mine replaced before the warranty ran out because the leather was separating behind the wheel. Unfortunately, the dealer ordered a GM wheel, going by the VIN - a tiny bit lighter dark charcoal and no grain in the leather. They've since ordered the right replacement and now I just have to make an appt. They saved the original airbag cover with my godshead emblem in the center and put it on the new wheel.

The color on the leather is only spray painted on.
If it is wearing out, you can get a replacement under warranty.
I had the leather wheel on my 1998 Contour replaced for the same reason.

Now I cover the wheel.

I had mine replaced under warrenty. You need to go at it like this, "you know my steering wheel looks kindo discolored can you guys look at it for me" you dont mention replacement, but they will once they look at it.

Mine was replaced under warranty at about 13k.
The leather was peeling off. Check into it.

Ya Ill give the dealer a try, I tried to get it replaced do to the
Leather peeling behind the wheel, but Ford just sent them a repair kit.
I might take you up on that offer Jeff...

Maybe a little off the subject but where do I get the spay paint to re-do the leather wheel. The leather wheel on my 2000 Excursion needs a little help after only 110k miles. Is this a Ford part.

mine was too the replacement looks slightly lighter then the old one, not too happy abotu that. just about ready to go back over and buy the best the general has to offer. i like the new GTO or maybe a used CTS-V

I've got almost 22,000 miles on mine and my steering wheel looks almost new. Guess I have a lighter touch on the controls. :rolleyes: I try to avoid the "white knuckle" technique :rofl:

How much to replace the leather on the driver side seat only? Mine is wearing with 45K..... Found a place call www.auto-interior.com that has CV and GM leather seat covers but no one can tell me if they will fit a MM....
