A co-worker took her Car, a Sentra, to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. They finish, she gets in, and drives back home. On the way home the car stalls twice, makes "clackity-clack" noises, it smells like burning oil, and she can't figure it out :shake: She tells me about it and I tell her to check her oil level, she does, and it's bone dry.

Now if you think that was bad, another person that works with me checked the oil again, bone dry, and she says that we need to get oil in it ASAP. Guess what she does? Co-worker #2 drives it to a mechanic :nono: :baaa: I guess stopping at the parts store first with another car, getting oil, and coming back was too much hassle? Jeeesh, it's only an engine folks.

So the engine survived, atleast it was still running yesterday, and after thorough examination...

1) There was oil all over the bottom half of the engine... hmmmm?
2) The oil filter was horribly mismatched, causing a leak.

A+ JIFFY LUBE - You sure are America's Oil Change! :bop:

Don't trust them just because it's the dealer. The individual technician matters more than the shop. Find a guy you trust and follow him when he changes jobs.

...especially the DIY part...unless you have condo restrictions on working on your own car, doing it yourself is simple, cheap, and satisfying...

I might just do that. It would give me a excuse to go buy a floor jack.

Most of thoes fast libe places have inexperienced workers. If the Dealer screws up they will make it right. You get what you pay for and oil is the most critical fluid in your vehicle.
