Still waiting for my wrists to heal up before I install my big TCE brakes, but I had what might be a silly question:

If, down the road, I ever need to have my new slotted and zinc washed rotors turned, will that be possible? Wouldn't it remove the zinc washing? Is it possible to have the zinc re-applied afterwards? Or in those situations is it just better to replace the rotors?

Don't worry about the zinc. It comes off after a few months anyway - in a year the rust will break through.

As for turning the rotors with the slots, I don't think you can.

Sadly that's probably true. The plating is far more 'box appeal' than it is long term function. Depending upon the climate it just doesn't last forever. And the heat of braking burns it off as well. Even not under the pad. I used to do electroless nickel and it lasts much longer. But at about $110 per set it is quite costly..

Slotted rotors can be turned. They need to be done slowly and with a min pass depth. They will 'chatter' if done too quickly casuing the cutting tips to skip. Or break- why most shop won't do it.

For ref I'd say that 10% reduction is about max. For the MM that's about .990" thickness. Replacement rotors depend upon how much wear and tear you put on them. They can be replaced at a cost of about $120-140 each depending upon finish. They can be purchased from me or Coleman Racing products direct who make them, however they will not offer you zinc plating.

Can cross drilled rotors be turned?

Yes it's the same basic problem- interrupted cut. Hard on the inserts. Holes should be chamfered after also.

When I first installed the TCE brakes, while going through the bed in process,I noticed mild feedback when applying the brakes. This vibration didn’t occur with my O.E setup. At first I was thinking warped rotors or improper installation. This problem was not resolved till I replaced the O.E rear rotors with Power Slots, but retained the factory rear pads. Wow, no feedback or vibration with all levels of braking, this setup kicks butt.
