Here's the scenario....

I stopped to get gas at a self- serve Chevron ( 92 Octane of course) near the freeway on a sensationally sunny day.
I had spent the better part of my " lunch Hour " giving my MM the
quick one -two with instant detailer and my California duster.

I'm at the pump and just beginning to fill the tank when I hear the exhaust note of a car making some serious horse power ...

I glance up and what do you think pulls in right along side of me ?

Ah , yes ... a Ferrari Maranello coupe .
It's obviously brand new and with it's deep Sapphire paint , it looks spectacular in the sun .

I continue admiring this fine piece of automotive engineering while the
driver/owner talks on his cell phone and tries not to get his Mr. T starter-set gold chain display tangled with the hose from the pump.

I finish fueling the MM.

As soon as I walk in to the station to purchase a cold beverage ,the two guys working there proceed to ask me every conceivable question about the MM .

How many were made ?
Does it have the Mustang Cobra engine ?
What size are the wheels?

You get the picture ....

Now remember , that all during this discussion the Ferrari is no more than 25 feet from these guys .
The MM is actually farther away.
They don't even mention the Ferrari .
Amazing ...

well, that's the cool thing about American muscle, at one time or another most of it was obtainable by most people, and that is our MM, not everyone can afford a new one but its closer dream for most than a new Ferrari

I was at the taco bell drive thru 2 nights ago and the girl asked me if i was a cop when she took my money...

Not the same admiration for the MM but still ;)

True story, if you could see my avatar full size, you'd notice that there is a yellow Lamborghini on the other side of my MM and the authentic vintage Cobra.

Photo was taken at a vintage car race at one of the bases in San Diego. Next to the yellow Lambo is a red Ferrari which is not in this particular photo. Mind you, each of those cars is worth well more than three times the total investment I have in the MM even with the mods.

Yet folks were spending more time checking out the MM and Cobra together. The exotic car sales guys were scratching their heads wondering why. -kjs-

Friday night I stopped to pick up pizza for dinner. I walk through the door and they guy behind the counter asks if it is a Buick Grand National. I politely tell him that it is a 2003 Mercury Marauder. Then I get his speel about how much they are going for at auction. :depress:

I've heard of the Grand National confusion but never experienced it myself. I also don't get why guys in the Ferraris or Porsches stare at me when I go by. They are in a car that is easily 4 times as much. :shake:

LOL, from the looks of the lady I think she has much experience with handcuffs and cops, and not in the sexual way ;)

BTW, I quickly said I was not because the thought of all of the employees spitting in my tacos flashed through my head :shake:
