I had previously wrote - at length - about the PHP airbox i got and my aweful gas mileage since its install. Frequent members of the board will also recall that a few weeks ago - at Mac's suggestion I got tuned by Jerry V at Sutton Ford. You all know that i drive very seldom but reported very positive initial results from the dyno tune...

Now, the reason for this thread...

Well, over the past two days i have had a chance to take the car out and really beat on it and I can tell you that it's like a whole new car. The tuning was flawless. My shifts are perfect, the accelleration is amazing. I actually heard a chirp when the car hit 2nd gear this morning. When I have the A/C on and come to a stop the RPM still hovers at 750 or 800 [one of my pet peeves with the previous program; the second program - a valet setting - works perfectly as well.

I have to once again tell you that if you do any air intake mods - you MUST get a re-tune. If you dont you will not realize the full benefits of the increased airflow.

I strongly recommend Jerry V at Sutton Ford for anyone in the area - this guy tuned my car as if it were his own. If you have never had a dyno tune and are stock, I still implore you to make time to get Jerry V to do a tune for you - you will not be sorry.

I dont get a kickback from Sutton, nor do i get any special treatment. It doesnt cost that much to get this done and it will make you a very happy Marauder owner. I really hope we can get an event planned there so you can at least meet the folks at Sutton. Mac and Zack know these guys a lot better than I - heck, I was only there one time. Perhaps they can put together an outing there.

'nuff said - I think you get the idea.

Thanks for info 'Poke! :up:Tom - start here. Put your zip code in and it pulls up a list of SCT tuner shops and also lists whether they have a dyno or not. Also talk to any local mustang groups and see where they go.

Thanks, 'Poke!

I'm happy you are tuned, and pleased with your Sutton tune. I could add a lot more crap to this, but I won't junk it up. People who know what they want, know it all already anyway.

Slowpoke, what is your MPG after the tune? Did he do the A/F mixture? I have the same problem.

I was thinking this too since I just installed the JLT and now have a solid 10# of boost. After the exhaust system is done, a retune will be in order.

To be honest, I have no idea of what my MPG is yet. I filled the tank right after having the tune. I am stiill on that tank of gas. Remember, I really only use my car on weekends and dont go too far. I know I am getting better mileage by the way the needle has moved over the past few weeks.

Yes, he adjusted the A/F mixture. He said it was way too rich. It was only of the first things he did. As I explained, he tweaked everything to maximize performance. He didn't have a 'canned' Marauder program to load. He did the gritty tough work of tuning the car from scratch. This is why my performance has been so strong.

Slow, one last question. Did he adjust the A/F mixture with the chip -or- directly into the EEC? The reason I ask is because in the winter I pull the chip. Absolutely no reason to run it here in the land of ice/snow...

Everything was burned to the chip. I plan on running the same program all year long.
