I know everyone here loves their car, but I was curious as to how many of you are 'lifetimers' and plan on keeping the car till it hits collector status (20+ years) and how many were just enjoying the car as they would any new car and will trade or sell in a few years and get the next new thing.
I for one plan on keeping it forever but I know the bug may hit me to trade in a year or so...but I'll try to swat that bug away!

I own one, but if the GT500 is everything that it's supposed to be, and also has a price tag that's no more than $40K(a BIG "IF"), then I'll be selling or trading in my Marauder in order to buy the GT500. But I'd have to actually be able to drive the GT500 before I'll give up my Marauder, because it won't be an easy thing for me to give it up as it is. And I'm surely not going to sell it w/out knowing for certain that I'll be atleast as pleased, if not more so with the GT500. And that's the only reason that I voted the way I did in this poll. However, this might very well happen next year rather than in a couple years from now like the poll stated.
I love mine and would like to find another with less than 1K miles and at a bargain price but they're hard to come by. Best I've come across is a black 2003 with almost 500 miles for $25k. A blue one is what I really want but they don't pop up near as often as black and when they have there's too many miles. Red would be an option too. Ultimately I'd love one to drive daily and another for collecting. If I do come across one I want, the Bullitt Mustang will have to go. Then again. . . owning 3 awesomely cool cars wouldn't be so bad :D

The GT500 looks cool, has good numbers on paper, but your right about the price.
They had problems selling the past cobras for $35K so I don't know if the 500 will be successful for more dough.
It would be hard to give up the extra breathing room we have in a big car. I've had a Mustang and dont see myself going back to that as a primary driver.
On the other hand, when my loan is paid off, I may be on the market for the 500 AND keep the MM :bandit: . My then, there might be a few used GT500's in good shape.

.Well I hope that for my sake you're right about that, and that the dealers don't mark up the price over and above the MSRP successfully. However, this being the first 5.4L twin-screw S/ced car besides the $150K Ford GT supercar, I'm not so sure about that. Only time will tell. I agree that the best thing would be to own both an MM and the Shelby GT500, but that's something that just won't be possible for me. More power to ya.

Billy, I'd figure closer to 43 - 45K on the new Shelby. The top of the line Mustang with a Shelby name on it will be very expensive. Now if they only make a limited run, the price will go up even higher (thanks again to Carroll) and then there is the dealer mark up....waaaaayy up! 50K at least!
Remember the Cobra R's, this is the next one.

I'm keeping this car until my interests shift, and I can afford such a shift.
When they make a 4-door Corvette....nah, I'd still keep the Marauder.
I have purchased a new car every 1.5 to 2 years for the last 25 years. I've allowed some real gems to slip away, usually at a loss. I plan to keep my MM as long as possible. I love the MM and am in for the long haul, unless my affliction rears its ugly head!!!!!

Until there is something affordable that I like more, I'm keeping it. I don't drive it in the winter so it could last quite a while.

Probably 5 years that it will be my main vehicle.
I'll probably keep it but also add something else.

It's paid for and there's room in the garage. I usually trade every two years, but I've enjoyed this one so much that I retired it from road duty. I ran up 87,000+ miles from 11/02 til 1/05 and 150 miles from 1/05 to present-----waiting on the rest of you to catch up :D .

Well, I plan to be buried in my MM, with my luck St. Peter will be a bow-tie man, so I will need my car to outrun "Old Scratch"

Only had mine 5 months and put 11K on it. Bought the 100K warrantee, so the warrantee should last 45 to 50 months. After that, who knows? Besides, I want to replace my C5 with a C6 before I replace the MM.

Uhhh... it just doesn't get any better than this. It's permanent. When I can't see to drive it myself, I'll hire some lucky neighborhood kid to chaffeur me to the grocery store and bingo at ludicrous speeds. I'll be the baddest geezer on the block... Oh wait, I think I already am...
coincidentally, my lovely wife asked me, as I was washing Silverback, if I was happy with the car. Did I regret buying it. Of course not I told her, this is my first performance car and probably my last, I'll keep it until they bury me, wouldn't matter if I couldn't drive, I'll get someone to drive me (lucky devil).
My youngest son told his mother that dad will have it supercharged before next year. He may be right, I'll be debt free in November, time to take out a loan so DR can work his magic.

I'll keep mine until I'm eleventy-one! :P
I had given much thought to trading her for the '07 GT500,.. but, I don't think that a very good car for carring around an infant,... or two.

I for one plan on keeping it forever but I know the bug may hit me to trade in a year or so...but I'll try to swat that bug away!I plan on keeping my Marauder (DTR) for at least the next 10 to 15 years. This assumes no major accidents, thefts, rusting, or serious quality probems. So far everything it has been 100% perfect (no quality problems of any kind). I like everything about this car, even though the MPG is so-so. But I didn't buy it for its gas mileage. I bought it to enjoy, especially since I don't put high mileage on my cars. It just seems to suit my personality to a tee! But I only drove it 6000+ miles this first year of ownership. I haven't even been able to modify it yet. I have lots of plans for performace mods in the future, including a Trilogy S/C!
The Marauder is a hot performance car and a really great family and crusing car. It seems to do everything well. And the handling is truly great, considering the size and weight of the Marauder. It handles like a Mustang GT!
My other car is a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO (DK GREEN). You must all know how cool the DOHC V6 SHO's are. This car is now 11 years old and going strong, with full leather seat trim, JBL stereo and CD payer, and a moonroof, and with only 66K miles on it! Everything on the car is still factory original or NOS, including my second set of identical NOS factory Goodyear tires. MY SHO is an automatic 3.2L V6, but it will rev off the line up to 7500 rpm! Its just an incredible engine.
My wife drives the SHO now and she will never understand the rush and wonderfull feeling of lighting it up. She could be driving a 4 cylinder car and still be very happy. One thing she does like about the SHO, is that is has been paid off for many years now. We hope to be able to keep the SHO for another 5 to 10 years. It has a really beautiful bodystyle, even after all these years.

I'm looking for a winter beater right now so I can park the Marauder. So I guess that means I'm gonna be keeping her forever.

Unless it starts falling apart, I'll keep it. Had a 67 Galaxie for 30+ yrs.and 500,000+ (the milage counter died 4 yrs before I lost her) miles, If I could have found someone compident to rewire it I'd still have it.

Over the years I have had a few collectibles (2 Mustangs, 1 SS, and 1 GP). For some reason I have had to get rid of the previous musclecars. This is one I intend to keep. I may get another MM down the line, but that will be so I can spread the mileage out between the two. I am a MM man for life!
