When I got my car I noticed all of these little 'burn' marks on my hood - from the previous owner. I can't get them out. Everything that I try just doesn't do it; wax, bug & tar remover, quick detailer and even some stuff my buddy has from when he was a head detailer at a dealer.
I recent got bird crap right in front of my grill and it left one of these burn makrs like on my hood.
Has anyone been able to get these out? My buddy says he could buff 'em out, but doesn't want to do it on a black car because it'll leave scratches...:depress:

In theory wet sanding is the only thing that has a chance to work, if the burn is in the clear coat, if it burned past the clear coat into the paint, there is nothing that can be done....except for paint job.

Since you have a 03 MM, there were problems with the black paint.
You can try to see if the Dealer will warranty a paint job,
if you grease his palms with some TLC.
There is a way of doing it and I think BigDog may have some suggestions.
BigDog's paint job was about the best example we've seen of a poor paint job,
and he was able to get it repainted, and it came out absolutely gorgeous.
I have an 04 Black, and I haven't seen any spots left by bird droppings,
but I don't let them sit on the Marauder very long either.
I do get some spots left by the rain, but I've been able
to polish them out easily.

Has anybody tried that clay bar on those ? I hear it is a sort of supefine sandpaper like compound, not in their words obviously. But it does take off a supefine amount of material. Might work. Might not either. But it's worth a try.

I don't think a clay bar is going to do the trick. The bird crap discolorations is probably caused by a chemical reaction with the paint. Clay bars are usually used to remove stuff that has stuck to the surface, like paint overspray.
I think you're looking at a paint job to fix this. In the meantime, you might try some of the black Turtle wax that comes with the lipstick crayon. It might cover up the spot and help blend it in with the rest of the cars color.

Black cars are BEAUTIFUL when new.....and from 20 feet when clean and older!!
I had a black car once and when the MM came out in black....I swore not to get one unless they offered other colors.....and guess what....SILVER....voila.....I have one now!!! :banana2:
Close inspection of the paint surface shows small imperfections even in Silver but not at all visible from any reasonable distance!! :bows:
I wish there was a way to spot touch-up clear coat and wet sand to blend...maybe there is but I don't know about it??

I have one burn on the trunk lid. I missed it when it happened and it sat for a couple days. Now every time I drive I walk around the car afterwards and check. Windex and quick detailer sprays are in the trunk with the paper towels.

There is a lake behind us with ducks everywhere. They land in the creek behind our yard, and in the yard as well. One almost gave my wife a friggin heart attack when she spooked one in the garage.
These damn birds can leave a streak of crap that goes from the nose of the beast to the azz end! :mad2:
That my friends is a looooong string of poop!

I had my car buffed by a buddy of mine, one of those 2,500 rpm buffers. He compounded it then foam-pad polished it and man oh man it made a HUDGE difference. I have a 2003 300a so you know the paint is not top notch, but even in the sun there is no spider webbing its un-beliveale.Give it a shot!

For over a century, two statues, one of a nude man, the other a nude woman, stood facing each other in a municipal park. One day, a magic fairy noticed the pair, and decided to grant them one hour of life. As soon as the fairy tranformed them into real humans and explained they had only one hour of life, they dove into the bushes and for the next 50 minutes there was a huge commotion, dust, leaves kicked up. Suddenly it got quiet and you could hear the man say "Well, we've got ten more minutes, what would you like to do now?" She says "More of the same would be wonderful!" so he says "Okay, only this time, you hold the pigeons while I **** on them."

My dad's 03 E-250 has black paint and the hood paint started delaminating.
Two 2003 Fords with black paint having the same problem? Coincidence?

Someone here told me to use Meguiar's Paint Cleaner Step 1, worked well on my Blue 03 bird poop stains.

My son and I buffed out some scratches and water marks from all the upper surfaces of my car this past weekend. We performed these steps:
1. 3M Perfect-It III Rubbing Compound applied with a 3M white foam pad.
2. 3M Perfect-It 3000 Swirl Mark Remover applied with a 3M gray foam pad.
3. Mother's Reflections Wax.
It took several hours but the resulting finish is beautiful. We did not get everything (there were some deeper blemishes) but I am extremely pleased. We got all the water marks, which were very serious, out.
It can be done but it takes time and you have to be careful with your buffer or you'll burn the paint.

:beatnik: This past week-end borrowed my buddy's random orbital polisher and used the Megauire's NXT Gen and it worked some magic on the paint, removing all the water spots and lots of swirls and spider-webbing. However, no movement on the bird crap splotches...none what-so-ever. The car shines like the "Black Knight"..just don't get any closer than 5 feet.

I agree, I had a similar problem, "He compounded it then foam-pad polished it and man oh man it made a HUDGE difference" but be very careful. The result was very nice.
