Ok... I've decided that unlike every other Ford product I've driven, there is no way to remove the little rubber pads at the bottom of my cupholders - or is there? I'm afraid to pull too hard and find out that they aren't supposed to come out. From the time I bought my 03 - I've wanted to do some cleaning of the inherited grime in the bottom of these 2 crevices. Anybody have any suggestions?
If they don't come out - I guess I need to look for a foamy type of cleaner of some sort -- don't want too much liquid pooling in there.http://www.mercurymarauder.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

I've tried and have failed. I am going to assume they're not removable.

They do come out very easy. These things are held in with a light glue. Go at them with twesers(SP?) or small pliers. The easyest way I found to remove them without wanting too...the first time they came out...was to forget about a fast food paper cup that I had some soda/ice in. It soaked through the paper and released the glue and the next day the rubber insert floated up. Hope this helps.

Well, I'll give it a try -- I've done the fast food paper cup thing - one of the reasons I want to clean them out very well. :)
Wife thinks I spend too much time on the car and not enough doing what she wants me to do. Sometimes, I wait until she goes to bed to go out to the garage and hit the MM with some Quick Detailer spray & such. http://www.mercurymarauder.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Same here, wives don't understand the whole "car thing". I would get some warm soapy water and a wash cloth. Get the wash cloth wet then wring it out into the pail, swirl it in the cup holder, dunk back in the bucket, repeat. It may take about five times but they will come clean this way.

You guys crack me up. My wife thought I was obsessive/compulsive about the Marauder. THEN she met the OTHER local Marauder owners.:D Now she realizes my Marauder Disease is a mild case.

I pull the ones in my Explorer out and stick them in the dishwasher occasionally. They're not glued in. They come out of the dishwasher as clean as new.

Hold on a sec, does this void something? Oh well, this makes up for the rubber bands that were never installed.

I didn't want to rip mine out so cleaned them up with a rag and whatever little grime was left in the bottom I used a Q-Tip to work loose.

I'm sorry!!!:alone: I have to leave the office during the day or I get assigned stuff to do!!! I can't afford to eat in a REAL restaurant - gotta pay over $2 for go-juice! :bigcry:
I do my best to keep it clean. We took a trip and the MM started to resemble my wife's Expedition. This is not a good thing. Still trying to return it to it's original pristine shape.

I keep a bunch of Dunkin Donuts napkins in my door tray, that way when I spill something I can wipe it up when it's wet. This keeps things SO much cleaner.
There is nothing like a 1/4 inch of solidified coffee in the bottom of a cup holder. The stuff's harder to clean up than chewing gum :mad2:
When I detail the inside of my car, I just spray a little Simple Green in the cup holders, then wipe em out with a damp rag.
The secret to an immaculate interior is to stay on top of it. It's the spills that are allowed to set that are the real biotch.

You eat/drink in the MM, and let the kids ride in it?:)

Unless it's really nasty in there, there should be no need to pull them out. A soft cloth with a little warm water and dish soap + compressed air should do the trick...

Dow scrubbing bubbles works in these situations. It also gets the grime off the arm rest and steering wheel. Follow up with a good leather wipe, like meguiars. Been doing this for 20 years prepping for shows....
