I've had my used '03 (29K) for about three weeks now. Just had new BFG's installed and aligned to factory spec. What do you folks think--should I go back and re-align with the improved numbers I've read about? These tires are not cheap and the potential of 20K use is disconcerting--I drive about 30K per year.

With the car came four extra wheels with Dunlop winter tires (one tire missing) that are hardly worn. Seems to me that the stock BFG's would be fine in the winter--I drive mostly highway fast. It snows in New England but you're usually dealing with wet or slushy roads but 85% dry--if there's lots of snow drive the snow mobile or stay home until plowed or treated! Opinions or experience about the winter tires? If someone at the north pole drives a MM I'd be happy to sell them (or Michigan!)

Had a rectangular K&N filter left over from my P71 Interceptor which is now in the Merc. Noticeable improvement--I don't think the complete K&N assembly is warrented--big help with lesser 4.6's although. The Crown Vic guys look for Marauder intakes to upgrade and with the 32V and cool throttle body there's plenty of pep.

I just replaced my Roush Stage III and the P71 for this great car. One insurance, extra garage space, and the best of two cars in one!

How about front shocks? Has anyone replaced and at what mileage? Mine seem worn--slight vibration at 80MPH--but I've got no benchmark. Bilstien does not yet make a replacement--any suggestions? I don't think a dealer will replace under the existing warrentee because they're really not broken.

should I go back and re-align with the improved numbers I've read about?Yes, absolutely...otherwise you're just gonna waste the fronts.

Welcome to the collective...where in New England are you?

Congratulations on your NEW (used) Marauder..best car on the road!
Tires will be fine.....just go easier on the gas when you can.
Shocks could be replaced after 30-40K ...something to think about.
Lots of info on this web site......enjoy!

Gotta Love It! :rasta:

Trust us...they suck in snow.;)

As far as shocks, many of us including myself have experienced worn or broken (my case) REAR shocks, but nothing regarding premature front failures.

There are super sweet QA1 coil overs for the front. If you do replace, go this route. Very expensive, but very very good performance and lowered stance.

Which sucks in the snow--the BFG'S or the Dunlops?

Welcome to the collective! Store the MM wheels and BFGs for the winter, I bought a winter package from tirerack, delivered for under $475 for all four corners.

Anyone got a better part # for some more durable shocks? I am certain my rears are gone. Every time I take a right over some rough asphalt globs on my way home I get WHAM! from the passenger rear.

And not the crappy 80s band, either.

If you'd quit taking that thing four-wheeling, your shocks would hold up!

I can recommend those really nice QA1's that Todd has put together. When mine go (read: when I get more money), that's what I'm switching to.

Cheers!

Didn't think so, because the tires were just mounted and balance, but sure enough, you were right--it's fine now.

Hi Hank,

Fill in your profile so we know where you live !!!

Keep the snows, you'll need them.
I switch out my KDWS for Pirelli Scorpions in the winter.
Trust me, you WILL need a WINTER TIRE with the Marauder...

Someone I met, told me that the POLICE use a directional Winter tire on the Crown Vics.
If we could get our hands on a set of them, we could drive thorugh ANYTHING in the winter time...
They are only good for one season though, really soft compounds in the tire.
