Well after a year and a half since i sold my last mm. I have finally bought another one a black 03. But it is a recovered theft car and it is missing the wheels along with some other things. So my question is who makes aftermarket wheels for these cars? And does anybody have any pics? What would happen if i went with 17x9 instead of 18's?

You can buy CV 17" Sport wheels as an aftermarket item for about $500-600 per set. They are not the same as a Marauder wheel but they are a decent alternative.

Do a search on Ebay for "Crown Vivtoria Wheels" and they will come up

You can probably buy them from "The Dealer" here on this board. Ray will get you a good price on brand new wheels.

Sometimes you can find them on E-Bay as well.

Very rarely, a Marauder owner here on the site will change wheels and sell their stockers.. might be an alternative too.

Best looking aftermarket wheel for the MM (IMHO).
Someone on this site has them on their car.

Go to Tire Rack (use link from MM.Net Home Page) and do a wheel search for the Mercury Marauder. You can find them there.

As an option there is a complete set of factory rims with tires on E-bay for about $895.

Reciently had to part with 04 marauder (Bummer). I had collected and stashed many items aside, as I planed to keep it for a while, and felt certain parts might become too precious. Among the items collected are set of like new or better factory wheels with new oem tires (with the tags on them, all road forced balanced. PM me for more info if your intrested.

I havn't had the time to get pictures so I can post this and the other stuff in the classified area, maybe after the weekend.

To each his own.... but.... the biggest problem you will have with these wheels is the backspacing. They will be WAY OFF ! I say that doubting that they are made in the same backspacing that MM rims are. Mustang rims will stick out of the wheel wells like some rice products I see running around town.

Since you will no doubt be working on this car for awhile...you have time to find oem wheels one by one.

I have a wheel source local to me that has take offs in a variety of conditions starting as low as $160 each.

Send me a PM and I will put you in touch. ;)

SergentMac,

Do you have pictures to suport this. I would to get a set of BBS stlye mesh wheels but the offset is 35. When you say the wells can toerate a 35mm offset, is that a 8in wide tire you are refering to. I would like to put 9.5's in the rear and 8.5's up front. Thanks.

I know our cars have a 50mm offset. But i noticed the 05 mustang have different sized wheels than older models. They are 17 inch wheels but the offsets are at 45mm. I found a set of chrome bullitts for a 05 mustang they are 18x9 with a 38mm with 6.55 backspacing. Would they fit under my mm without sticking out past the fenders?

I run my drag radials on 18x9 aftermarket rims with 35mm offset. They do not stick out.

Big HouseThis is my street tire, a 285/45 Pirelli on a 9.5" OEM wheel.

This is my BFG drag radial in place, 265/35 on an 18x9" wide aftermarket rim, with a 35mm offset.

That's not me in the pics, and I apologize for the quality. Here is the car on the ground.

You can see that the 35mm offset does not stick out past the fender at it widest point, and it also will allow for a 10" wide wheel, which improves tire/drag radial selection.

If you're still not sure, then stick with a 40mm offset as a safety margin.

Since I got my 300A in Aug od 2002, I have had to replace both front and the back passanger side wheels........all due to one sort of incident where I had to force my MM into the side of the street or a curb, each time the wheels " exploded " not jjust simply broke. It was as if they were under some kind of pressure the wqay they blew out ! The BFG OEMs shread as fast as they wear. I have been through way too many BGF OEMs on my MM, but I have yet to see an agreed upon replacement tire that will do the same job or better. If you have found a brand of tire or wheel replacement, let us know, I was told by my insurance peoplle thar OEM replacement wheels are histoey ans one company is making refurbs, what most insurance polcys will insist be used. I have been charged $ 700 mfor one wheeel, no center or lugs;..clean ! My insurance botought two of them for Fords small inventory of spare Marauder OEM parts, We will face this same problem when replacinf the from bumper cover, oftem destroted with little force from another car, I know this form experience X 2 times ! The refurbed cover is $1100 unpainted and clean. As we crash our cars we aqre running out of OEM parts ! The cae compamies are " supposed to " keep a full inventory, 5 years back, but there wern't any pre 2003 MMs and few 04s. A parts problem, that being getting OEM bobdy parts that are unique to the MM and othe MM unique parrts will get harder and harder to buy as the feds, don't enfoorce thie own las on the 5 year replacment part law, after all, who will ckek if ever part from every car is being made stocked or even available,
Lets keep th M,M.Net parts for sale/ wanted an open and used resource !!!!!!!

I haven't decided what wheels to go with yet. But i do know they won't be oem marauder wheels. I did find a front bumper cover on ebay for $545 shipped.
