Well gang,

Entered my Marauder in its first car show today. This is the 3rd year I've done this car show with 3 separate cars. I continued my 2nd place curse...!

This is the South East Minnesota Ford Owners Association Annual Carshow in Rochester, MN.

2002... My 1999 Black Taurus SHO...2nd place to an older classic.
2003... My 1984 Mustang GT...2nd place to a 2001 Cobra...bit upset about this loss as my Mustang is mint with 59K on the clock.

2004... Entering my Marauder. Figured I had a pretty good chance at a 1st place trophy until this gent showed up......Wow....was this an awesome car. There were 5 cars in this class, 1960+ full size Ford/Merc cars.

I came in 2nd to a 1964 Marauder with a 427ci engine in it. See attached pics.

This car took 1st place in it class, Best engine and BEST IN SHOW! Soooo...I don't feel too bad about coming in 2nd place. One beautiful vehicle.

My '04 had plenty of lookers and the questions were neverending about the supercharger, etc. Lots of kudos.

All in all a great day. Hot, sunburned but another 2nd place tropy in the garage.

Congrats, FiveO !!! Nice showing. Thanks for representing. :D

Tires are original to the car as delivered from the factory in Feb 1964
This is amazing ... my MM is 2 years old and I am on my 2nd set of rear tires. Sure hope the fronts last 40 years.

Good showing Mark! What better to place 2nd to than another Marauder, esp. a classic.

He was at Carlisle last weekend. Beautiful car. Thanks for posting the PX, as we didn't get any. :high5:

:coolman: The owner of that 64 Marauder has something special. Unlike the large number of us on this site that enjoy modding what Ford didn't have the balls to do to the Marauder in 2003 ( S55 comes to mind).

Either way, our MM's are rare for this day and age; we'll always have admirers.:bows:

Just seeing pics of the old and new side by side was great. It must have been something to see em in person! :D :D

I'm glad I didn't have to explain with more pics or my drool on how nice this 1964 Marauder was. What a gorgeous car.

He won 3 trophies and I had no qualms about losing to him at all. What a magnificent car.

I'll get my chance next year when I sneak over to his house the night before, pull his plug wires and knife his tires ;) ;) ;) :D

For a little perspective...did he have any performance specs listed? 0 to 60 or 1320 stuff?? I wonder how much the 64 weighs in at?

The question is...did you hit him with a Slowpoke card?

Why wouldn't the 1964 Marauder be considered one of the first muscle cars, as was the GTO of the same year...?

This car would weigh in right around 4000-4100 lbs and would have run around 15.0 or better in the 1/4 mile as it has 3.50 gears (I know the car). This time is based on old magazine tests. The 1964 Monterey Marauder that was featured on the recent Speed Channel TV show uses 4.56 gears and has run a 13.29 @ 105 at Stanton, MI.

He was actually being generous with how rare the car is. It said 1 of 9, but in fact there are only 2, 427, 1964 Montclair Marauders documented to still exist.

So in other words I'm not out of line feeling ok about losing to a classic like this :)

You should feel great. As others have said, this '64 is one awsome car! It combines Ford's best high performance regular production engine of the 1960s with a great looking car, and EXTREMELY low production figures. Its a rare exotic, but it's not Italian or German. It's American! And it's a Marauder! You can't get any better than that.

You didn't lose, my friend; you won, ...big time. You got to participate and rub shoulders with the finest people on the planet. The show car scene, and folks who share our treasures is simply, the best. Believe me, he was just as interested in your Marauder as you were his. Trophies? Your reward was that you were able to share your car with other enthuisasts. Good for you!

Thanks guys. I definitely didn't feel bad about coming in 2nd place to this car. The owner is a really nice guy and the car is mint...beyond words.

I felt better after he won 3 trophies too...best in class, best engine and best in show.
