Okay I am confused. Looking at the tachometer the redline is 6000 rpm. Today I got on it and noticed that the 1-2 shift occured at 6500 rpm

Can anyone offer insight into what is going on here?

Do you have an ECU reflash? If so, who's "tune" do you have?

I use the SCT (old style) with Dennis' tune, and while the high throttle shift points are a bit high, I don't think it gets that high.

If you use the SCT device, you can use the "user" program to change the shift points, but it's not very "user friendly." I haven't ventured to try it myself.

Your tuner should be able to do this for you. I believe it's possible to put the **** points where you want - from 0 percent throttle to 100 percent at all speeds.

6500 RPM? I'm sure our engines could rev that high - but that isn't a number I would want my engine to see more than once. If you have a tuner, I suggest bringing it down to 6100 or 6000. If you didn't change your tune at all, a 6500 shift point SURE isn't stock. It should be around 5700 or 5800 stock.

Yeah, the 4 valve heads love 6500+ rpm BUT the stock rods don't like it!!

I thought that stock shifts were at 6000 - 6100 rpm...

I don't believe so, but I could be wrong. Diablotune raised the shift points to 6100 RPM and I lowered them to 5800 RPM so I have enough guff at the 1-2 shift to chirp the tires without hearing the transmission whine up like a screaming mouse prior to the shift. IIRC, 5800 was stock - does anyone know for sure?

Not sure what is stock, but I've run mine up to 7000 on the dyno a few times. No use, but it didn't hurt anything. Power drops off dramatically at 6500 and continues to nosedive, even with all the intake/exhaust mods you can think of. Needs hotter cams or a blower. My redline is set at 6500 now and shift points at 6100.

As Rider90 points out, stock shift points are 5.9K plus or minus .1. If your car is shifting at 6.5K and hasn't hit the rev limiter, methinks you have a reflashed ECU.

What else is different? Shift firmness? Most ECU reflashes are centered around WOT performance.

Just curious, does the rev limiter still work if one manually shifts?

Yes. There is a rev limiter while in Drive and one while in Neutral, both of which are adjustable.

My car has been up to 6400-6500 rpm on the dyno. My shift point is at 6100 rpm. I love it.
