Unfortunatley the reception is so bad the radio mostly emits static. Intermittenly voices will come thru.
CD works fine.
AM shows it is coming in as stereo. Checked antennae by unplugging it from the back of unit and the static went to no sound at all.
Any ideas, I assume the tuner is bad?
Mine goes total static as long as the rear defrost is on. Annoying but tolerable.

I loose a few stations as soon as I start my car. Seems it's picking up bleed off from the fuel pump.

Strangely enough, I discovered I no longer have AM/FM today too. I have not tried them in a while since I added Sirius but I got caught in a hail storm tonight and decided to check out the local news while I waited the storm out in a parking ramp. To my suprise, no radio.
Hopefully, the hail didn't get me too badly but I can't tell in the dark :( It was really hitting hard on the freeway...

I had the same trouble for a long time. The dealership changed antenna, antenna booster, all the antenna wires to no avail. It was an intermittent thing that got progressively worse. Turned out, I had an internal short in the radio tuner unit. I changed the radio, and all is fine now. They didn't want to cover it under warranty, but I had purchased a backup from someone here, so I didn't mind.

I had this problem. The whole radio was replaced under warranty.

The FM would die out after about 1hr. then then the AM much later.
It was a burned out section in the radio.
Exchanged it (out of warrenty) at the place the Ford Dealer uses.
$300 to exchange.
Solved the stastic problem also.
When you do this ask about making our secutity system active instead
of passive. There is a Ford module that can be wired in, in 45min.
Cost for the module and install was $225 here in Calif.

You can run a test of the head unit, if you would like,
Turn on and to some station if possible. Press 3 & 6 at the same time to enter a speaker test. During the speaker test you can run 5 other sub tests by pressing the following buttons:
1- Audio internal & external self test. If a fail appears you can scroll through the DTC's by pressing Tune>. If it is okay self pass will be displayed.
2 - View or clear dtc's. Tune> will scroll through. Pressing eject here will clear dtc's.
3 - Signal test, measures avg strength at current FM station, may help when wiggling cables or connectors.?.
4 - Software version. tune> will scroll through versions
5 - display test, will light all display lights.
To exit tests, turn off radio.
