Ahhh, 42,000 miles and smoke now on startup after sitting. I think I read somewhere here about early models doing this. My build date 6-02. Saw no TSB's for this from Ford. Anybody see this happening? I work at a ford dealer as a service writer, but in the country and don't see any of these motors, mostly diesels. Since I work for ford unable to get assistance for repair as non ford employees are able to get. Any input greatly apprec...

You might start here. No one seems to know for sure what the cause is but it doesn't seem to have serious consequences

I have had an 03MM and a 04MM (in Houston, Texas) puff smoke sometimes at start with the motorcraft oil. I switched to MOBIL 1 and went away.
The oil pressure did not seem to change though....ooh it's a fake! My 04 will get a real oil pressure guage just after I complete the boost guage install!

I changed to Royal Purple 5w-20 on Monday. Only driven about 80 miles though. Seems since only smokes out of left pipe. Prior to oil change found oil had about half quart oil too much over full line. Oil change done 400 miles ago. I will check PCV system as stated above.. Thanks

Do the cheapest thing first.
I ended up having the dealer change out all of the valve guide seals. Fixed the problem. Ran another 8k with no problem. Much to the chagrin of many on this board, I started "another" thread on the blue smoke problem. Do a search under my user name.
