Anyone know what the minimum speed is, in which the torque converter locks on a completely STOCK tuned MM ?.
I believe Lidio's tune doesn't lock it until something like 63 MPH.
Not sure what effects Dennis's tune have on the lock-up speeds.
Any other differences in torque converter lock up behavior/specs ? ... as in the STOCK MM tuning vs that in a Lidio or Dennis tune ?.
Not looking to start trouble ... just basic facts.
Thanks.

At very light throttle, mine will lock up (while still in 3rd gear) at just under 30mph.

I was going to say the stock lock-up is 38mph and Dennis raises this to 42.
But thats the min.shift speed to OD.
So my answer is for the BASE tunes would be I don't know.
This would have to be addressed buy the venders for the best answer I think.

Would it add more trans/TC wear if I changed the lockup to 60 MPH? will it reduce life or just MPG?

Are you running a stock converter?
Lidio likes to keep the converter un locked, while Dennis locks it but at a higher speed.
With my PI converter I like it locked at light throttle in 3rd and OD because I get a large drop in RPM from unlocked to locked.
In OD at med to heavy throttle when the converter unlocks I get 3000rpm but no speed, just dropping to 3rd and the speed comes right up.
So I keep mine locked in 3rd and OD as much as posible.

Yes I am

With a stock converter I would say the car would feel "snapier" in 1rst-3rd with the converter un locked a la Lidio, but always locked in OD,or at least as much as practicle.
The tuning (stock) issue that seems to be most damaging is the wacky torque converter clutch "slipping" you know 75,50,35% slipping of the converter. that would seem to do nothing but add heat.

Well, when someone finds the stock settings, please post them? I want my OEM TC and OD settings back, my "around town" MPG sucks.

Mac,
You probably already know this but, there are six tables for the TC locking 2,3,4 and the corresponding unlocking of 2,3,4
Each table consists of 10 different Throttle Pressures and the corresponding MPH for locking at the given TP.
If you want more 411 email me @ ron.field@speakeasy.net

Mac,
Supposedly, you can reload the values from your base file and get the stock shifts. Just a thought.

With the gear change and O/D @ 50 MPH, my around town MPG is drastically reduced. But the go-factor is worth it.

I have a Lidio chip in my 04. I lose 2.5mpg with the chip in. Anyone know if its possible to have the TC work as a stock program if the OD is on and stay unlocked with it off?

That is a question you should pose to Lidio.
If you would like his tune modified, Lidio would need to do that for you.
If you are only losing 2.5mpg, and the driveability factor of yor Marauder is 100% better,
the 2.5mpg loss is a minimal sacrifice for driveability.
On 1/2 tank of fuel you are only losing 10 miles...
On a full tank you are losing 20 miles.
That is only $2.39 lost on every tank full.

I will be stopping at a speed shop for a dyno tune on my way down south next Friday and plan on having this reprogrammed. At aprox 9.5 gallons per half tank I'm losing 23.75 mpg -or- more than 1 gallon per half tank. If I have the TC lockup at 50 MPH with OD engaged, I should see my mpg improve significantly in my daily driving. Of course the play factor is not figured in. :D

If you purchased Lidio's tune with your Xcal, I wouldn't have anyone else modify it other than Lidio.
All it takes is a phone call, and Lidio may just surprise you.
He is here for US, and supports our Marauder.
If you are unhappy with his programming, at least give him a chance
to correct it and modify it to your liking.
You may find that just modifying the Torque Converter lockup
will not give you back all of the MPG you have lost.
It may not even give you back 50% of the MPG you have lost.
There is a lot more involved in a tune other than modifying shift points
and TC Control.
There is fuel and spark management going on here as well.
Why are you going to take it to someone who possibly knows LESS about about our Marauder ??
And why did you buy a tune for your Marauder, to increase its performance,
and you aren't willing to sacrifice a little MPG for it ???
You didn't buy your Marauder for its outstanding fuel economy, did you ???

I have no loss at all since I used the tuner. In fact, after 2 tank fulls, I'm about .75 to the good.
I still have the 3:55's and installed the K&N CAI kit... maybe that helps.

MIB, the car needs to be dyno tuned due to A/F being too rich, I'm not comfortable with that being done via telephone. I have a chip not a tuner, so the settings have to be burned into the chip. No, I don't expect stellar MPG with a MM. I do however expect better than I have now, especially since my driving is primarily country roads, 55mph. The people who will be tuning my car have done other members MMs. These folks were recommended. I won't recommend them or even say who they are until I'm satisfied with their work.

My stock 03 B shifts; into 2nd at 11 mph, TCC lock-up at 21 mph (to soon), into 3rd with TTC locked at 27 mph (very annoying).
But my TCC switch takes care of all !!
