Have drove two silver and black do you all like the 03 or 04 and paint quality I know this has been a concern.:)

Most of the complaints come from us black MM owners.
My guess is the silver paint is just as bad but you don't notice the problems as much on the light color.

When I was shopping for my MM this time last year there were three new DTRs in NYS. My dealer brought in the closest one from about 125 miles away. The day I was supposed to pickup the car he called and said the paint was so bad that they sent it back. :( I was pretty disappointed, but they obtained one from a small dealer in the North Country. It had been on the showroom floor since they received it. :) The paint was perfect.

My '04 silver MM has a couple of stone chips, but otherwise the paint looks great.

My paint seems to scratch pretty easy - I cry every time another nick appears. From a couple feet away, you would really see it. Most people don't even notice them, but I do:cry:

Silver won't show the imperfections as much, and won't look dirty as fast...

Still, I wouldn't have been so attracted to another color. Black Marauders just look menacing, even when standing still;)

I don't have any paint issues on my 03 black, but it only has 12K on it so that may help. I do agree that the paint scratches really stand out and it gives me a heart attack when I find a new one. My kids know not to go near the car in the garage with bikes, skateboards, etc, but love to walk around the car and point out little scratches just to drive me nuts.

After hearing all the paint issues on black MM I was concerned, having never seen my Marauder for two months after I bought it.

Today I went over it with a fine tooth comb.
Sorry to say - Mine looks AWESOME!

You guys want to see how bad the paint is ???

Take a piece of PAPER TOWEL.
Find an inconspicuous place on the car body.
Clean the surface of any dust and debis.
Lay the paper towel on the car surface.
Wipe it ONE SINGLE TIME.
Now look at the surface...

Mine is an 03 in black. I should just get it repainted. There were flaws in the paint from the factory and Nature has kicked the crap out of the rest of it. I live in an apartment so I don't have the luxury of a garage. :mad2: :fire: :help: :censor:

yup,.. been there,.. luckily, only for the first 10 months I owned her..
