I read that. It said that Ford is selling 18,000 Mustangs per month. And that the GTO is a dud (due to styling), GM expecting only to sell 13,000 this year.

And you wonder why Ford ignored the Marauder? 11,000 in two years.

The big winner appears to be Daimler-Chrysler, who has enjoyed very good sales of the 300-C, and who could have a winner with the new Charger.

There was a story yesterday about how car makers are backing away from fleet sales to rental car companies because the profit margin is so low, and when the rental car companies replace cars they flood the market and drive down resale values of those models. They said, for example, that the Ford 500 is sold 85% of the time to retail buyers compared to the Taurus, which was onle 20% sold to retail buyers. They also said the 500 has been such a dud that a styling makeover is already in the works.

On a related note, I read in Motor Trend that Ford is killing the Shelby GR-1, and there are no plans for a third generation Ford GT. This should drive the market for GT's even higher.

Okay Ford. Just bring out the GT500 ASAP, build more Mustang GT's, give us another Lightning, bring on the Adrenaline, and how about a supercharged V8 in the Fusion? Or maybe a blown CV when the new body style debuts?

The liberals will want to stop this!;)I can guess who you're mad at. Don't worry though, I'm one and I'll fight for my right to drive whatever the hell I want. I think it's environmentalists that are more of a threat though, but I don't see much support for them these days.

The problem guys is a re-run of the same thing that caused us to get crappy cars from Detroit back in the 70's. High fuel prices. It's putting a downward pressure on the market for muscle cars and the manufacturers are just trying to look forward to a market that's going to be more fuel economy minded. They learned their lesson and won't give us junk because they aren't being caught flat-footed like they were after the oil embargo of 1973 and are now gearing up for a more fuel efficient product for the masses.

As I recall, there will be about a two or three year delay before people start buying the hybrids in large numbers and fleet averages get up around 30+ mpg. The muscle models are the exception now anyways and our Marauder was always a muscle car. Ford is selling 18,000 Mustangs a month and 17,000 of them are 6 bangers. None of the Marauders were.

It's the market, boys. Not politics.

I agree completely. Of course, I'm another liberal. :) Seriously, though, I hope that while companies are busy building more fuel efficient V6s they continue to offer V8s as an option for those of us that don't mind spending a bit more at the pump. Surely it doesn't cost that much to enginer a car to have more than one engine option. Does it?

What makes you think that Ford IGNORED the Marauder ???

It was S P E L L E D out for you when you bought the Marauder.
If you would have R E A D the Marauder literature,
you would have learned that what you were buying,
was a L I M I T E D production vehicle.

So please stop all of this finger pointing and blaming.
FORD did exactly what it promised to do.
It sold you a 'special' vehicle, and made it very L I M I T E D.

I am very glad that I don't see a Marauder every time I turn a corner.
I spend most of my time trying to navigate around SUVs and 300s nowadays.

So please, enjoy what you bought, and think of ourselves
as the privileged few who RECOGNIZED the value of the Marauder,
stepped up to our dealerships, and demanded what was ours...

The Marauder is NOT a fashion statement, like the 300 is...
The 300 is NOT selling because it can be had with a H E M I.
It is selling because people look at its grill and see a PUG on wheels...

What ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ MENINBLK said. I have only seen one other Marauder in my area of CNY, and it is sitting on a dealer's lot.

Wait a minute. Liberals are never happy.

They preach to us that we need to buy little 4 bangers to save gas and the planet because it is good for the children and the senior citizens who will starve to death because they will lose their social security and starve to death before they die from lack of health care. Then they began beating the drum about Hybrids. Saving gas is good they say at any price.

But......Liberal politicians in Oregon and California, surprise!, realized that higher mileage cars equate to less gas sales and that means LESS GAS TAX COLLECTED! OH CRAP! What to do? One brilliant idea is to equip cars with GPS and CHARGE YOU BY THE MILE.

Remember that it is to protect you from yourself. I think I'll have a V-8!

You'd think liberals caused the plague or something.

I know they are responsible for every world evil (and some not of this world) but geez.

When President Schwarzenegger is in power, THEN we'll have some real progress!

"Liberal" has become a term like "communist" in that very few people who use it have a clue what it means.

Remember, if something in your life isn't right, it's all them damn liberals' fault. They're all tree-huggin' queers.
