As some may remember, I flew to Boston on Tuesday and drove my MM home the 1400 miles to Orlando. I'm very happy with the car and the trip was great. Averaged 24.7 MPG for the entire trip.
Since I had to go through Jacksonville on the way home I stopped off at Dennis Reinharts shop to purchase the new SCT XCal2 and have Dennis give me some OJT on using it. I posted last week asking for feedback on tuners and received a number of PMs with recommendations on both Lidio and Dennis. As expected, there were both positive and negative comments (although most were positive) for both these gentlemen. I chose DR since his shop is so close to Orlando and so many forum members are using his equipment.
I arrived at DRs shop about 9:30 Thursday morning and was greeted by Debbie who took me through the shop to meet Dennis at the Dyno. The first thing that impressed me was how neat and clean the whole operation is. Reminded me of a NASCAR shop. Dennis spent the next two hours with me discussing some of his projects and setting up the SCT XCal2 and test driving my car with the new tunes installed. The new found acceleration and firmer shift points are great! My car has a bit of a fueling problem at high RPM (both stock and with the new tunes) and will be at the dealer next week for a fix. Looks like perhaps a fuel pump.
All-in-all I was very happy with Dennis' service. I'm an old OBDI guy because of my involvement with Buick GNs and need to learn OBDII from scratch. Dennis was more than willing to share some time with me to get me familiar with the MMs even though I could tell he was very busy. Thanks, Dennis. It's much appreciated. I look forward to becomming more active on this forum and attending some of the events as well. :)
