I put a tinted plate cover on the Marauder this weekend. $6 at Target. I think it really finishes off the "dark" theme the black cars were going for. Especially since the Florida tags are mostly white. I'd post a picture but I'd have to blur out the tag so not much point. Just have to trust me on this one.:cool4:

Unfortunately, that's not legal in my state or I'd do the same.

not legal in FL either, tolerated more or less, but not legal.

In NYS, you will get pulled over, even if the cover is clear. Equipment violation.

But it just looks so good. I've got it too, if your not worried about getting a ticket for it its a nice little mod for the car.

Same here in NC. Anything covering the plate, including a frame is not legal & it's a $25.00 fine (usually waived if you take it off before court date).

A plate cover is a reason for the police to stop you. So are most plate frames. If the frame covers ANY part of the identification [the word "Florida", the "county", etc.] it is illegal and you CAN be stopped and ticketed for an improperly displayed tag. A guy in Tampa fought a ticket for this exact reason [dealership plate frame] and LOST.

That is correct. No cover of any type is allowed.

Don't know about Michigan. I have a smoked cover, was just recently pulled over for speeding about a month ago, cop didn't say anything.
Probably too busy admiring my Ford Racing seat belt covers before writing up the ticket.
Illegal in New Mexico as well. I would imagine it's part of the uniform traffic code for most states. How about this one:
Section 12-10-1.17E. No driver of a vehicle shall operate, or permit the operation of sound amplification system which can be heard outside the vehicle from 50 feet, when the vehicle is being operated upon a highway, unless that system is being operated to request assistance or warn of a hazardous situation.

they don't like covers because some of them disperse the laser and they can't clock you if they are aiming at the license. also, some of the covers prevent them from taking pictures of toll cheaters and red light runners.
IT'S ANOTHER DECISION BASED ON ABILITY TO GENERATE MONEY!!!!!

not legal in FL either, tolerated more or less, but not legal. I had a Crownvic.net frame on my vic for 3 years and no one said boo to me. I'm not too worried. If I get pulled over the last thing the officer will be upset about is the plate cover.
