What would you guys think about emblems like these for our fenders, They come in the red as pictured, blue, and all chrome. They are plastic but thick, just like factory badges. I contacted the vendor about a group buy just waiting for some pics and prices. Right now they are 8.95 each with 6.50 to ship one and an additional 1.50 for additional ones so worst case would be 26 bucks for the pair. I asked if he could get them in silver or gray and he said he could not, I will just paint mine silver where the red is when i get them. If he needs to do something on the site to sell as a group buy please let me know and i will get ahold of him. I thought these would look great and just wanted to share and see if anyone else would be interested. Thanks, Greg
The red and blue are one piece 4.6 supercharged or high performance and the all chrome are 2 piece 4.6 and supercharged or high performance.

Have to be honest and say I dont really care for any badging on a car. I wish Mercury would have had enough sense to use the godhead on the trucklid and there should have been no badge up front in my opinion. But, each to your own and this is no slam against whatever anybody does to their own car.

Those look cool, but I think that someone posted about these and their short longevity....something about the finish degrading rapidly due to the elements. :(

Yes, I can attest to the chrome coming off! I just removed mine the other day because the plastic was showing through the degrading chrome. :(

Thanks for the heads up on the finish, I just got done washing the MM and stepped back to visualize and kinda changed my mind about them as well. But if i do them i will do them in black with just the chrome outline, i think that would look better than the silver anyway. Oh well off to find something else to spend my money on.

When is someone going to come up with a god's head replacement for the Polish waterfall on the grill and hood?

.........personnally......and yeah--no one asked my opinion..but here it goes...
it's embarrassing--I mean this car is and has so much get up-and-go-type--we shouldn't even try to embarrass ourselves with saying it's a 4.6 with all the V-10's --12's and other stuff out there---why tell our displacement?--I can't never figure that out? What does that say?--It says--that's all we got --want to try-?? I guess thats the answer--=that is signaficanty to so many--but cause a lot of us are not "just that" any more--myself included--not displacement --but alot more "open the can of whop a......"...so I guess if you want to place a symbol on your MM of likeness of so many other cars on the road --go AHEAD--But a MM deserves more--even if that is what she has--no need to tell everyone who has the same---I guess I just don't get it--the posting of those #'s--since so many others have the same displacement----ok my .02cents worth.....

I was just telling someone in the s55 thread about this yesterday. I got one from 5.0 resto.com that says 4.6 Nitrous Injected. I clearcoated mine with two layers, applied it and havent had a problem since. I have been through the car was alot and I live in Santa Barbara with lots of heat, humidity and rain and it looks like new ( no deterioration, no chrome peeling, nothing). Am I the only one that knows what a clear coat is? They do look great and you can see them from pretty far off.

This has already been done, do a search for Gods Head badge. You can make your own if you are handy with a grinding tool such as Dremel. All you need is the center cap from the wheels part #3W3Z1130AB and your waterfall emblem after you remove it from car. The originator might still have some around.

Ok I have found the perfect badge, it is a little expensive. The cost is $5995.00, but if you fill out a personal survey about what size shirt you wear you get a free polo shirt. Then if you fill out a survey about the type of car you want to put the badges on you get a free supercharger. The shipping on the fender badges are a little expensive, $185 but you get free shipping on the polo shirt and supercharger. This is the perfect badge in my opinion, it is not too small and not to bulky as a plastic badge. And it does not have the engine size on it. A little free advertising for Trilogy. I forgot i had these, they were in my trilogy manual pocket.

I tend to agree with this ^^^^ logic especially when there are 5.0, 5.7, and 6.0 L running around. Let 'em guess.
I would never dream of putting a "281 cid" badge on my fender. ;) Of course, I come from a time when I was somewhat embarrassed to run around in a 307 Chevelle or a 318 Charger SE when it seemed everyone else had a 350, 396, or 454. :o At that time, there were just so many big engines of the 350, 383, 400, 429, 440, 454, 455 .... running around. Heck, even my father's '62 Chevy BelAir wagon had a 283.
Understand that today's engines are much more efficient and powerful. But, advertising a 281 just doesn't seem right !!! :D
That said .... I'd like to take a peek at the blue badges ... just in case I change my mind.

They look nice, but I'd rather have people guess at what's under the hood. Someday when I get that supercharger, it'll still be unbadged. ;)

Badge switching isn't new. Back in the late '60, many a clown put 396 and 427 badges on his 327 Chevelle/Camaro. But everytime they started the car, the world knew the truth. Those dudes just never got it.
I'm going to echo the above sentiments that no badging is cool, with exception to MartyO's Marauder/checkered flag fender badge. A repro of a formerly geniune style, it's all class. Ditto Donny's S55 badge now playing in a thread near you. These badges are founded in history, the cars they were attached to are our MM heritage. Genuine, respectful, and conversations starters.
After you go to enough shows/meets/events where vendors are welcome, you see tables and tables of this aftermarket stuff, all sizes and shapes, you can get anything you want. I once asked a vendor if he could make me a set of "4.6 power by Allison" badges and he just stared back at me for a moment. It never clicked, but he said "take about 3 weeks."
Why would you want to put something on the fender, which never really existed as a production automobile? No Marauder was ever produced with any power adder. You may have added super/turbo-charging, or, nitrious, or both, but why tell on yourself? The folks who go to the shows, know the badges are fake, just 3 dimensional stickers from riceland. Those who don't probably would not care either way. And, nothing is more embarassing than having a set of badges, and not being able to "put up or shut up" when challenged.
I also like Kenny Brown's treatment of the Marauder S. If you're into this car, you'll know what the S means. If not, you're about to get a clue.
Don't make your Marauder something it isn't. Respect what it is, and be proud you own one. OTOH...To each his own, happy motoring!

Here are a couple of pics for anyone still interested, he did not have any pics of chromy in a 4.6 so the 3.8 is just for reference. He did not have any pics of a blue one but i would think it would be the med ford blue. The prices are for 1 emblem not in pairs so if we get 25 pairs the price would be $9.00 ea. shipped for 50 emblems. Let me know how many people are interested and we can set up a deadline, or if you just want them on your own go to www.DiscountMotorsports.net (http://www.discountmotorsports.net/) and tell them you are with the group buy on the Mercury Marauder site set up by Greg. One pair will cost you 20.50 shipped at this price compared to 25 bucks if you do not use the discount and just buy from him as a regular customer.
