So I spent $710 yesterday on the tuner, 4.10 gear, and JLT intake (can't wait for it to arrive :banana2: ) and when i checked my mail I get a letter from the bank the Nissan is financed through telling me not to make my car payment for the month and 'enjoy' life with the free $593. I know it defers interest but dayum, I basically have more cash to burn now.
The gear will prob cost $300 to put in and then the springs (Eibach springs that have been sitting in the corner of the garage) will most likely be a few hundred, hmm.
What other cool mods are there for a couple hundred bucks? Already have tint and flows.

Good advice. Falls into the "two birds, one stone" category.

Is it mainly looks or is the 'stronger' really mean anything?
I've never had the cover blow off a car before ;)

While your in there also do the the stud kit, costs less than 30 bucks, but that's cheap insurance. The stud kit replaces the carrier bearing bolts.

I've never had the cover blow off a car before ;)I'm probably not the right person to answer that, but my impression is that for a daily driver it's probably going to be mostly for looks. I just thought you were wanting to spend some cash, and I'm pretty sure it won't make you go faster. . . but, nothing wrong with an appearance enhancement. . .

Ryan, forget about looks, as you'll never see it; but, with power adders, the stud & girdle kit is a nice, low cost, bit of insurance. By all means get one. Wes will ship you the very same one as the Ford Racing unit, at a terriffic price. :)

When are you going to get your stud & girdle kit Mike. You know the 2005 Shootout is in October. You will need something special to beat Charlie (The Blueman). :gangster: Buttermilk will is not concidered a power adder.

Remember when we were up at Kauffman's for Haggis' dyno tune, and Gordon B was on the ground behind mine trying to see it's shiney hiney? (never did)
Funny you should ask, though, because I had it to Cooper Motors, in Hanover for it's PA istate nspection, today; and to install the new Motorsport gasket Wes sent me to fix the leak from it's poor self. They did a great job, and it's all fixed, and cleaned up. No charge, and since I bought it from them, free state inspections ...for life. :)
Since I've been working on my reaction times, that darned Charlie's ...TOAST!!! :neener:
Buttermilk? We don't need no stinking buttermilk!:burn:

Don't forget to check your trunk for hidden weights.

You're right, oldekid. The girdle looks great. But, for a "daily driver", the Dana 60 stud kit and rear end girdle won't make any MM faster. In fact, it slows them down, and I guaranty this.
twolow...You have a few threads going on upgrades and mods, so, I can't really tell what's on your mind. In this thread, you're adding 4:10s, induction mods, and a custom tune. These mods may add up to as much as 30 RWHP and 30 RWTQ in performance improvement. Not shabby, eh? But, keep adding the small HP/TQ stuff here and there, like underdrive pulleys and Stallion torque converter, and your performance improvement could add up to a whole lot more. Add-on to that, the way you will be driving your MM once it drives better, and you're steering yourself into dangerous territory. Territory where factory stock assemblies get stressed beyond their endurance.
Up ^ there, I said guaranty your MM will be slower, and I mean to say that I guaranty that it will take you a lot longer to have to drive to the bank to withdraw the cash to pay for a rear end rebuild when you break everything. The cost in OEM parts is over 1200 bucks, then add your local labor to this. Maybe today, you don't own the power that could trash all that heavy duty Marauder rear end stuff, but maybe in six months, step taken by step, you will?
So, here you are today, ready to spend good money to have the 4:10s installed and trust me on this, you want them set up right. At this point, adding the suggested stud kit and girdle should be almost free, labor-wise that is. To do these mods again, alone, and another time, will be more money out of your pocket. So, why worry about any of it again. Do it right this time, and do it once. Happy motoring from there on, eh?

PS: while you're at it, get good 'ol Wes to send you the Motorcraft Racing gasket to go with it. :D

Your exactly right with the future of the car and I did order it and the shop is putting it on without extra charge (no reason to charge).

One more thing, Ryan. When they install it, have them put a dab of Silicone sealant on the threads of the drain plug, and run it in and out to coat the threads, before installation. The guys at the Motorcraft/Ford Racing booth at the All Ford Nationals, Carlisle, passed along the little trick. Otherwise it's sure to seep a little. (you can do it yourself before you take it to the installer) :)

Thanks Mike. I have some clear silicone left over from a back door I put in last week so I'll get right on it whenever Wes decides to send me my goodies. He is such a tease! :P
