Well I too am not sure why the thread was started, but the responses are great. I'm glad to see there's not a harsh Impala/Marauder rivalry. Everyone there understands the concept of pride of ownership of what you drive. And they respect the Marauder.
I agree, and I respect the Impala SS, infact if I had the money I'd buy one and park it next to the Marauder. We should band together - the Imapala SS/Caprice platform gone, the Panther platform is on it's way out eventually...the Imapalas and Marauders are the rare breeds of the genre. In a sense our cars are a dying breed.
I have a Mustang, a 90 GT, it's a great car. Its got 197,000 miles, original everything. Runs like a champ. Then I see the huge Camaro/Mustang rivalry that gets pretty heated at times. What people don't realize is my dad has a '99 SS Camaro. That car is also great. I like them both.
Some seem to think with a rivalry you pick one of the other. Camaro or Mustang, Impala SS or Marauder but not both. I like all 4. ;)
We oughtta get a cruise with the Impala SS guys. Get about 20-40 Marauders and Impalas pounding the pavement down a highway, man that'd be a site to see!

Not necessarily. There is the the 300C, Magnum, Charger and CTS-V. Ford in general just isn't designing that way, for now. Hope the competition wakes them up.

So if the Marauder sets any precedent, Ford should have a hot styled RWD V8 powered sedan/wagon/luxo-sedan platform ready in 2013?

Exactly...they always have a handfull of members who are so full of themselves and their old ass Chevys just like the fellow who posted "...just wait till he matches up with his first LS1....".
I've met the LS1....2...3...4 TIMES OR SO. The ones around here have 150+ on them and are full of rust.

True, bigger RWD V8 cars ARE making a resurgance.
I guess what I forgot to mention is the Impala and Panther chassis are about the last body-on-frame cars.
Good or bad all the new stuff will be unibody.
In a sense it's good, at the same time I find it hilarous when a car as "out dated" as a body on frame big sedan can out handle a Bimmer. ;)

For the most part they seem like a good bunch of guys, and a lot gets lost in the keyboard so to speek. looked like a lot of mutual respect and a little friendly trash talking to me. :)
Either way I'm cool with it. If not for the SS, FMC never would have bothered with a muscle sedan leaving us without our beloved MMs.

Wonder if he has some new Wimpalas Too! I do like the SS, I get a kick out of the SS fans, that think that it is faster than a Marauder:P.

Anybody remember what boat anchors they were?
Guessing a lot of things get blurry after ten years!

Wow, along the same lines I was on the Grand Am forums and I mentioned the new GTO had bland styling (even though I like the car) and the Grand Am (Pontiac) folk just unleashed on me. There's a page of Marauder and senior citizen/viagra jokes, lol.
I guess I'm a traitor there for trading in my GM design flaw on four wheels. :) (ROFL, j/k I liked my Grand Am even with it's few flaws.)
The GTO is fast, RWD, V8, hard to go wrong there!

As unatractive exteriorly as they may be...they are not to be f'd with stock to stock.
I see more and more everyday. Small, plain, but definately something for the Pontiac folks to be proud of.
Respect is easy when you are standing on the ground. ;)

Yeah I know, but getting those guys to go to the track isn't easy. Most of them want to do a mod day/BBQ at Dan's shop.

I think the Marauder is an awesome looking car. I'll never forget the day I flew to Chicago to pick up my SS. I arrive at the airport, call the guy with the car and he says, " I'll be there in 3 minutes. We're in 2 cars." So me and Tek are waiting and then we see the FBI roll up... BBB 95 Impala SS and Black Marauder... this was us [Eek!] [Eek!] . I went to buy the Impala but daaaamn I wanted to test drive that Marauder too. Awesome looking car, from the big wheels, to the smooth lookin interior, to the chrome tailpipes. Real sexy. In the end I know made the right choice tho... BLACK BEAUTY
Man am I glad I scrolled thru some of the posts, this is the guy that bought my SS.

I hope you were not picking on me!
I like the SS so much, I am thinking of buying one:coolman:
I would say it is the only product GM ever made, that I could say that about!
The attitude is pre-existing, I just find it funny how jaded it gets!
On your website, you posted the Volo event wit h BAD Bodies. I went to meet the local SS club last spring, Everyone was awsome!
They insisted I park my Marauder amongst them.
When I was bone stock, the fellows there that were also stock, had the same ET's as me!
So how is the Marauder, a much slower car, than the SS?

we had a 99 SS 6 speed vert before we got the marauder. only got it becuase some idiot ran a red light and the SS got totaled and couldnt find a replacement. we will own another ss someday and still have the marauder. ppl never liked the back of the ss as much as the back seats in the marauder anyways.

Okay, I finally got to see it (I hate dial-up!!)..... that car sounds great! (having more cubes under the hood usually makes for better exhaust sound IMO).....nice burnout with what looks to be one powerfull car!!! Although I wish he stayed on the go pedal instead of backing on and off it like that. It looked like he didn't have the room to stay on the hammer though since he would've got sideways into the wall. I'm sure that he could've done a parking lot burnout much better since he would've had more room, and would've been able to get into the pedal more. Nice vid. :banana2:

Billy, that was Anders "Bostic" Enval from Sweden and it was at Santa Pod Raceway in England at the 2004 FIA Finals. That was his first run of the event on Press Day, Wednesday. You'll notice he went far beyond the starting line even though he was in a sportsman class. If he'd have done that on any other day they would have warned him or thrown him out. He's a bit of a character and been in drag racing for a long time. You should read more at his site, he loves cars and ppl and I thoroughly enjoyed that trip to England to watch him race.
The reason he was on and off the throttle was because he was kidding around. I've got a lot more vids and pics of his burnouts and I can attest to the fact that he's a John Force fan. We also found and fixed a bad plug wire the following day. That was the Jesus motor, a 396 LT1 with a ATI pro charger. He has run high 10s in the past and will be looking for low 10s with the resurrected Jesus motor this year in Atlanta at SSHS5. His friend from Sweden now runs Smokey Yunick' old garage in Florida where it will be getting tuned soon. He got a sponsor and will be shipping his car over so he can be at SSHS5 to participate and cover the event for Bilsport magazine.

And it's really good to hear from ya dude. Don't be a stranger. I did notice how far he took that burnout past the starting line, but because that's against the rules in the lesser classes of bracket racing, I assumed that it wasn't during (or before) any race, but that it was simply an exhibition that he entered in.
But like i said, his car sounds real mean (I like it!!) and I'm sure that with the kind of power it has, he would've hit the wall if he stayed steady on the gas rather than hiting it intermittently like that. :banana2:

i work in construction and i think the ss looks like a upside down bath tub. just butt ugly. :beatnik: I definately like the bodystyle of the Marauder better. It's bodystyle looks great the way the factory made it without any enhancements, whereas the Impalas need some personal touches for them to look nice IMO. But I've always liked the Impala SS engines a lot better than the stock Marauder engine. They have more torque, and thay sound better when you wind them up than the Marauder engines do (because of the greater displacement). so in any comparisant of the two cars, there are trade-offs.
