View Full Version : Cop Car Show - All Invited
Hello All,
The New Britain PD (one of the largest forces in CT) is hosting its second annual cop car show and we have been invited. We are the only "civilian" vehicle group with non-cop Panthers that is invited to this show. I am also inviting the CV group but only the guys who have the PI's.
The date for the event is July 9, 2005. It is an all day event. Here is what I have planned...
- All attendees from our group get in free (of course.)
- We will be getting a prime display location for our cars.
- There are a lot of interesting activities going on throughout the day for us to enjoy.
- I don't have the final time to show but it looks like it will be late morning and end late afternoon. I will provide that info as soon as I get it.
- After the event I will have reservations for us at "Hops" brewhouse for dinner. This is a GREAT location and they KNOW our cars there. We get great treatment just because we own Marauders. (NOTE: I might even be able to arrange a cordoned off parking area for us at this restaurant. How cool is THAT?!)
- After dinner we can spend a few minutes (or hours) cruising the world famous Berlin Tpke. A 6 miles straight piece of highway that is the cruising mecca of CT.
I have room for 5 MM's cars but might be able to fit more in if demand is high. I would love to be able to ask for space for 10 cars if the support is there.
Please email me at danstraATcomcast.net if you think that you can make it. Folks, I need you to be fairly certain that you are going to make it if you reply. I have a duty to the PD to deliver 5 MMs so I have to count on you to be reliable in your statement of attendance. Please help me out with this.
I will cut off the RSVP's for this by July 7th. There is a nearby hotel here in New Britain that was recently remodeled. Anyone who comes the night before can expect me to be their host from when they arrive to when they leave.
If any of you guys want to make a weekend out of it and do a "Driving Cruise" in the area, let me know and I will put something together. My personal goal is to make this day and/or weekend a weekend that an MM guy and his family can attend and feel like he was truly treated like a guest.
This is going to be a very fun time for us. Every cop I see in CT turns his head when I drive by. Cops from all over the Northeast and beyond are attending so this is going to be a GREAT way to present our cars to the public.
One last thing... if we get 10 cars there our group will be THE BIGGEST group in attendance. Most PD's send 3 or 4 cars. 10 cars in any group will STEAL THE SHOW.
I hope that you can make it. Again, please email me at danstraATcomcast.net if you can make it.
Best,
Dan
PS: Posted to General Area due to the open nature of the invitation.
I am requesting a sticky for this thread, please.
Thanks.

I'm into real MM's and support real LEO's
Have fun just the same.
:D
This was posted once before in the NE area.
I was asked in email
What happens at one of these car shows. would the MM's be on display or just parked together?
The reply is that we are going to be a part of the main show and parked together in the main area. If there are any vehicle related events such as a burnout show, etc., we will be involved.
So far I have two slots filled, folks. Who else is coming?
Dan
PS: Can I please have a moderator sticky this thread?

See down the page to July 9.
Up to three now. Woo Hoo.
I was asked about a car wash near by. What I am willing to do is let anyone who needs to give their car a refresh on the morning have use of my hose and driveway at my house just for this purpose. You'll need to bring chemicals and your favorite chamois. :)
My place will also be a good place to leave things during the day, if you want.

I will be attending but I will be bringing one of my department vehicles. We attended last years and our department motorcycle won a trophy. Its a great time.
I remember that there was a blue Marauder there last year that was just as popular as the cruisers. It was so sharp it was one of the reasons that I went out and purchased mine.

I'm very interested in this but that doesn't mean put me on the list just yet. I could use a long weekend and getting out of town.
I'll have to see how far CT is from N. VA and think about it, but I'm atleast interested. Leaving Friday and coming home Sunday could make for a neat weekend and a 3 day one at that. :)
Will think about it...if you get 5 before I decide that's fine.
Edit: Looks like I'm about 360 miles away, according to mapquest. No further than my trip to Ohio and that's for work. Will consider.

Hey Sean S! That was ME!!!! It is so cool to learn that my going helped someone else decide to get an MM. I was so impressed by the event that I volunteered to co-chair it this year. Make sure we meet, ok?
You just made my day, dude. Which PD are you on? Will you be able to cruise with us that night on the Pike? I am also inviting some of the CVN gang, too, so it should be extra fun.

Dude,
If you come up from that far, I'll make room. Like I said, I am co-chairing so I have a "little" bit of clout on this one.

Cool I talked to a friend tonight about and we were figuring it'd be a fun road trip and a drive up to a car show is always worth it. I gotta give it some thought and check out schedules, but I may go. At anyrate will let you know as soon as I can if I plan to attend.
My friend has a '98 Town Car too, not to mention my dad has a '99 CVPI...heck I could bring atleast 3 panthers up there. :) (With 3 drivers of course...) (I know only CVPIs or Marauders though.)
Sorry about not letting those other cars in but that isn't my decision. Still, bring them up and they can all come cruising with us that evening.
I am going to make sure that you all have fun when you get here so it won't matter if the car gets behind the gate or not. :) I take the responsibility of having MM's in my area very seriously.

Yes, I'd like to go cruising there again. Its been years. I'm a Master Sergeant with the UCONN Police Dept. We're entering two or three cars again. Last year we were the only department that didn't have white cruisers. It was a good time. My Chief wanted me to take photos of all of the different cruisers but ended up busting my stones because I took about twenty photos of your car. But he really didn't mind because he's a car guy too. He even considered buying a Marauder for his department vehicle but was concerned about how it would look.
I'll definitely look you up at the show. See you then.:)

Cool! UCONN PD. I can't wait to mee your Sarge. I'll give him a poke in the ribs for not getting that MM for his car.
It'll be good to cruise the Pike with you, Sean. Does anyone here have any idea what a chilling effect a parade of Panther crusing down the Pike will have for the light-to-light racers and the burnout crowd?
You won't want to miss it.
Dan
GREAT NEWS!!!
There is going to be a parade through the city of New Britain and all of the Marauders cars and other private P71's that show up in my group will be allowed to participate!!! There are twenty two different police departments from all over that will be attending. Since most departments only bring 2-4 cars the odds of us dominating the parade are very, very high.
The event will start at 10:00 am and run until 4:00 pm when there will be an awards ceremony. (I am one of the show judges). After the cereomony will be the parade. After that we will be able to take a break for a while and then head out to dinner around 7:30 or 8:00 pm. I have a great restaurant picked out on the Berlin Pike.
I have the officer who is planning this with me helping me get the word out that we will be cruising the Pike that evening. Odds are good that we will have some extra "friends" accompanying us to dinner and to the cruising. PLEASE NOTE: The emphasis on this night of cruising is going to be "obey the law."
This event is going to be a BIG deal, folks. Our cars will get a lot of exposure. Remember to bring a lawn chair, sun block and your Motorola compatible FRS walkie talkie.
I still have the RSVP time open until July 7th. If you still want to attend please remember to email me so that I can have your name at the gate. Unregistered cars will not be able to get in. I can be reached at danstraATcomcast.net.
I look forward to hearing from a few more of you.
Best,
Dan

MTAMERC9,
Please drop me an email at danstraATcomcast.net just so that I can make sure that you get all of the RSVP info.
Thanks.
To everyone else,
I'll try to have an update for the site by tomorrow night. I'll be sending out the final RSVP emails on Thursday. If you do not have a Motorola FRS compatible radio it would be good to grab one by Saturday.
Best,
Dan
Hello All,
I just sent an email out to the list of attendees so far. If you did not receive it and think that you should have please email me at danstraATcomast.net and I will get a copy of it out to you.

OK Gang,
The RSVP's close tonight.
Remember, there will be a parade at the end of the day, a nice dinner and then some nice, slow cruising at a CT hot spot.
So far we haven't even gotten 5 cars from our group. I am baffled by this. I thought that this would be something we all would find enjoyable.
If you think that you can make it, please let me know by 8:00 pm tonight. We would love to have you.
Best,
Dan

Since we will be using the FMS radios, what channel are we going to be on ?
I will be leaving from LINY and was planning on taking the Port Jeff ferry across. Anyone have usefull suggestions? I have never done a trip using the ferry. Anyone else interested?
I like to use channel #4.0. I think that is a good choie because it seems to be one of those channels that is at a popular frequency (read, non FRS radios use it.)
I suggest that we all go with 4.0 by default until we get together and then we can tweak it from there.
It you are taking the Port Jeff to Bridgeport ferry you will have a very nice ride. For your directions look for John Carbonic Way in New Britain, CT. From Bridgeport the best way to New Britain is to travel 95 north to 91 north to Rt. 9 north.
I am going to have to be at the show from 8:00 am on so we will have to meet at the location. When at the door say you are with "Dan Stra" and the "Marauder Club" and you will get right in with your car if you are driving an MM or CV PI.
You should attempt to schedule your arrival for between 9:30 and 10:00 am.
If anyone wants to go but won't know until last minute just email me and I will give you my cell phone.

Hey Defyant. I live on Long Island and would be interested in taking the ferry over to CT. with you. I too have never taken the ferry but I heard it is the way to go. Contact me and we can coordinate where to meet and times.
OK, folks. I just sent out the final details for this. If you think that you should have gotten them and didn't email me at danstraATcomcast.net. Include a cell number.
I'll make sure you get them.
I am closing RSVP's now. We do have room for one more car. If you email me after now I won't guarantee that you'll get all of the info but I will still try to get it to you. (I am saying this to avoid the disappointment of anyone.)
Best,

I just go into LINY (it is 2:36 am)and just got my son to bed.... I left Maryland shortly after my last post..... gotta love travel in the rain. There is no way I am going to get to sleep, then get my 4 yr old son and I up at 6, get us fed, ready and to get to the ferry before 8AM.
Sorry guys, I tried :alone: .
I am sorry that you could not make it. The event was a total blast!
A Chinook helicopter landed on site to the crowds amusement. The parade was unlike anything that I have ever seen in my life.
Oh, and I got my first 5.7 Camaro kill. Yessir, I did. To make it better it was in full view of around 15 local PD, none of whom "saw anything." To go one better the car was being driven by a uniformed officer.
We were given a start and he totally broke loose at the start. I had him from that and once the car hit its stride it was allll over. Has anyone else had a legit "kill" like this?
I'll let the other MM guys who showed up say more. I had a lot of fun and wish more MMs could have shown. You all would have had fun.
Maybe next year.

This was a very cool event.
We all got to ride our Marauders in the parade through the town,
and we held a triple Marauder Burnout !!!
Dan, MTAMERC, and me side by side...
There was lots of excitement early on, but has the sun grew hotter
the day got longer, and hotter too.
Next year should be a real blast, but we are going to need MORE MARAUDERS,
and Dan,
You are going to have to invite several radio stations to come out and play !!!
Most of them will do it for FREE !!!
