View Full Version : Dyno Day at RPM (aka Carb Connection)?

Dave (DirtyDog) and I went to visit the Racing Performance Motorsports (RPM) facility in Kirkland yesterday. Nice clean shop. They had a beautiful Corvette up on the dyno while we were there. We talked with Alex Racz about dyno testing (& tuning) our Marauders. Normal fee for a dyno test (no tuning) is $145. We can get a group rate of $75 per for 5 or more vehicles.

How about getting together for a group dyno day maybe Saturday after next? That would be July 9th.

PS. The fee does not cover any tuning. Since tuning is a more involved process, you'll need to schedule a session with them.

Count me in for number two. The numbers will be good to have for long distant tuning also. The gas, air, elevation, and humidity are all different here in the Evergreen State.

Well, that's four. You know it does not have to be a Marauder. You can bring any kind of car. Front wheel drive cars have to go last.

Were at 4...Any body else? I suppose I could bring my 95 GM HPP for grins (its dark blue of course) but I'd have trouble driving both down to Kirkland at the same time. Anybody else curious about their stats? Any other stock ones to see how close they are to my Blue? Heard ;) the Blues came with a special tune over the others!!! Bet the combined total curves of my Blues will take all Western Washington comers  (have I gone too far?)

I'm going if I have to go by myself and be the fastest Marauder in Washington State.

Dave I assume that since you and BruteForce visited the dyno guys that one of you are going to want to make the arrangements. Do the dyno guys still have room on the 16th? Do you think they would they take 4 of us at the discount? Maybe we should post a link on the West Coast forum and PM the others that have shown up for the meets in the past. Some may not have seen this ECM forum. Let me know if I can help. I'll still hold the 16th open.
Cheers Bruce

If you don't get the 5th, I'll have to drop out. Planned on getting this done by Lidio durring MMville III (Along with a little bit of "tweeking" by the master himself). No scence spending the $$$ twice.

Yes, they said if they knew the first of the week they could handle it on Saturday.
Maybe we could split the fifth car fee and have them do something else for us for the time they would save.

Seriously, if you'd like I could front you the fee and you can pay me back whenever.

The Beemer sits because it needs brakes lol. Been driving the CVPI a lot lately. I do appreciate the offer, but my remark while somewhat true, was in jest. I really wouldn't benefit from doing a dyno right now.

Ryan said today at the Harris Ford Show & Shine he would be number five for the Dyno.

By the way we did good at the Show, 01 Interceptor got third place in the 1991-2005 Ford Class, I got second place same class and I won Most Likely to Get a Ticket. We both got door prices also. Ryan left early to go to work.

Anybody interested in doing the Pony Trails drive with the Mustangs? I was invited by a Saleen owner, and I know a guy who's attending. We'll get to tour the LeMay Collection for 10 bucks. I think he said we're going to drive to Mt. Rainer as well. Their site says that the route is TBD. Be at Bellevue Community College about 8:15am on Friday.

Saturday 16th won't work. They already have others scheduled for that day. I had them pencil us in for Saturday the 23rd. I need to confirm with them either way by this Friday at the latest. Please post if you will be participating. I'll start the confirm list:

Here's a thought! Might not be a good one... but... I'd sure like to get a stock base line before heading out (without my Blue) to MVIII. I know mod resistance is futile and you never know what raffle or other goodies I might come home with... so maybe we tell the shop we'll take the 5 slots at 5x$75=$375 and spend next week trying to fill the 5th slot. If we don't fill it, we can split the $375 4 ways or $93.75 each (plus the Gov) or find some other way. At least we'll have it scheduled. Hey BF & DD sorry this is turning out to be a struggle but thanks anyway for working it! Hope we don't have to scrub it. I'd like to see how your MM's run with the mods you've made too! Please keep me posted! Cheers

Dave & Bruce... should we go ahead and confirm for 23rd and just split the entire x5 fee 3 ways? We'll save a couple bucks apiece over the regular fee. We can just act dumb (not too much of stretch for me) Gee... they're supposed to be here. Maybe they got lost?

PS. I have postponed my call to RPM to cancel until Saturday morning. Should be enough time for Dave & Bruce to check in. Otherwise I will tell RPM to cancel for now.

Oh why not...I'll go with the 3 way split on the 5x route if needed... Maybe we can still add some others next week. The 30th is definitely out for me. Lets see...Whats Black and Blue and Black??....The three Marauderteers trying to set up a Group Dyno!!

One pull won't tell you anything, and 75 bucks is a rip off for one pull. A base line needs at least three pulls to have any value. Hope you get your fifth member.

BruteForce

We have a reservation for 5 or more vehicles for 9:30 AM July 23, 2005.

Spoke a bit with John (I think that was the name) and he noted that a "base-line dyno" will consist of 3-5 runs. If you want to make minor adjustments, you can do so between runs but they will not be doing any "major" tuning. I'm not sure if that means he will be able to tweak my A/F but I can hope. :D

I want to encourage all those that haven't spoken up to seriously consider getting in on this. How about 1 BAD 03 MM, de minimus, Wagonmaster, & mchunt (to mention a few)? We haven't heard from these cats yet. Maybe a friendly PM/email would alert them to the upcoming opportunity? Come on folks... spread the love. :cool4:

How about our Crown Vic brethren? Perhaps a couple of them want to get in on this?

That's great! Two n/a cars running over 300 horsepower. That puts you right up there at the top of the pack. Using Blue03's car as a baseline for the dyno, he's right in line with typical 20% hp lose to rear wheels....that would put you two up around 370-380 hp. Congratulations   !
