Well,.. this is the first time pulled my intake off. I followed the advise from other threads; and so far, so good.

first:

I removed the air tube and unplugged the IAC an TP sensors.

I loosened the throttle cable cover bolts.

then I pulled the hardware and cover.

I removed The EGR bolts. Watch out for the little copper gasket back there.

Then I loosened the upper intake bolts. I was careful when I pulled them out. The bolt lengths vary,.. some short, some long.

I got my wife to hold up one side of the intake, while I held the other side and slid in the spacer and gasket.

I made sure the spacer and 2 gaskets were properly seated and put the bolts back in.

89 in. lbs. is the torque spec. I snugged them in the pattern specified by the Helm manual. I accidental stripped the bolt under the EGR tube. I'll have to get that fixed fairly soon.

Putting the EGR back in place was a PITA! I had a hard time lining up the copper gasket, then the EGR didn't want to line up. With a little time, I was able to them installed.

I reconnected everything and checked to make sure I didn't leave any tools on the intake.. :)

Here's what it looks like:

I started her up, no probs, no tripped codes.

I took her for a spin around the block. It's hard to say if I can feel a difference. ....maybe? I think this is the kind of mod, when used in conjunction with other mods (CAI, pullies, Etc.) and a proper tune will make a noticeable difference!

:woohoo:

I hope this helps anyone who's thinking about this particular mod! :burnout:

He must use Windex. I recommend lemon scent to make working under the hood smell refreshing (helps mask the smell of sweaty armpits).

Glad you to hear you have it installed, my experience was the same, I didn't notice any difference in regular driving. I did notice an improvement in the throttle response when car is cold. The U/D's are a more noticeable mod.:)

I have the PHP Spacer installed in 15 minutes and Yes its a bit of a Pain to get that EGR lined up and bolted back together. I installed it with Pulleys, and a PHP Airbox already on the car, The Spacer actually felt like it took power away. Thanks to Dennis, I got my $110 worth out of the spacer with a SCT Tune.

Thanks guys. I do use glass cleaner from time to time, but most of that bling is from Zaino tire cleaner on all the rubber and plastic.

From Steeda website "The Intake Spacer with Gasket raises the intake cover for improved flow and less air restriction while delivering 4-8 more horsepower and torque. For naturally aspirated and supercharged vehicles" Basically adds volume to the manifold and lengthens the intake runners...more TRQ/HP. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2003-33,GGLD:en&q=Basically+to+me+it+adds+volu me+to+the+manifold+and+lengthe ns+the+intake+runners...more+T RQ.&spell=1) Think of a hi-rise intake manifold compaired to anything else.

Increases intake volume = increase in torque...

How much I do not know. But I DO have one...;)
