What a miserable night I had last night. First, I get a call from the automated sensor in my computer room that the temp is high (bad for servers). I immediately head into the office to find the AC has shutdown. Long story short I spend the night getting it back up and getting the temp down.

On the drive home, I'm tooling up I-75 when the car down shifts to 2nd at 75 MPH. It shifts back so I slow down to try to figure out WHAT THE HELL? When it down shifts again, all by itself. Okay, this is not good. So I pull off, shut the car down for a couple minutes and try again. Now it won't shift into anything higher than 2nd.

I dropped it off at Team Ford this morning. So I know its good hands. Looking on the board other people have had similar issues. Is this covered by warranty?

Man, 2nd at 75...I bet that sound was anything but pleasant.

Be sure they check for chaffed wiring at rear of engine next to Power Brake unit. The symptoms are similar to other folks that had chaffing of wire assembly.

I noticed the harness chafing potential on my MM when I first bought it last year. I used a short length of dryer hose on both the harnesses at each side of the engine. Cut the hose down the center (not in half) to get it over the harness, then a nylon tie to hold it there. No problems yet. Good luck.

Get them to replace the snap ring with the improved spiralok type. Steve knows what it is, he built my tranny.

Sorry to hear of your problem. Does anyone know if this is a problem for the '03s and '04s? Anyway to prevent it?
