View Full Version : Valet Key?
I got a gray valet key with my 04 MM. I know it won't fit the glove box or trunk but I was wondering if it restricts performance when using it.
Anyone know?

To my knowledge, it does not resrict performance, but then I could be wrong. I don't let valet's have the chance, I park my own rides. The key basically keeps them out of the glove box and trunk as you have found out.

You can use this key in the ignition only. This key is for if you ever let a valet park you car, they cannot get into the glove box or use the inside trunk release once they are locked. You shouldn't use it on your regular key ring just keep it separate from all other keys, this way no one can make copies of your other keys. Just a security measure.

No performance difference.

No performance difference.
This is correct. Shortly after my purchase I wondered the same thing, took the key and went for a spin. Nothin' different.

Just a recap:
Valet key does not work on a locked gloved box or trunk and has no effect on the performance in the motor. 'K

You can however (once you have one), use one of your SCT chip positions as a valet persay. You would have your tuner set a program position to govern the motor so extreme that it wouldn't run over 30 mph no matter how hard the non-owner womped on it.
I used to have a position programed that way.
Thanks for the quick replys. I looked in the owners manual and it doesn't say anything. Just thought it would be a good feature if it limited revs or speed.
I knew I'd find an answerd here!:banned:
