After much deliberation and all that good stuff, my parents located something they both agreed on and ultimatley, I too like very much. It's a 2005 Grand Marquis LS Ultimate. It's a beautiful color and had only been at a dealership in Charlotte for a few hours not even unwrapped when the Mercury dealership here called them requesting it's delivery to South Carolina. It now has 110 miles on the clock.
Features Include:
-Heated front seats
-In-dash single CD ready for Satelite Raido and a 6-disc trunk changer.
-Leather (of course)
-Traction Control
-ABS
-Full-sized spare (a Pirelli tire actually, that's nicer than the other four Michelin tires.)
Here are a few quick pictures taken tonight. Nothing special, just a few quick point with flash shots. The interior colors are fairly true...it's an EXTREMELY attractive car in person. My dad will soon tint the windows. The car is very executive IMO. I love it. It's smooth and rides 100 times better than the old Marquis. It's definitely more refined and more well thought out. The build quality is much better too.

With an 03/04 Cobra in the yard... you don't need to worry about having a performance sedan! :D
The Merc needs some better rims tho!

Yeah my dad comes home and says "No new CD player, no speakers, no headlights (silverstars), cold air induction, or anything else. We've had too much trouble with mods and this car is perfect as is."
Our Cobra is a 2004. I bought him a cold air intake for Father's day, we'll install that soon! As much as 30rwhp ya'll! WHOOPIE!

I agree. With a Cobra already in the family, just no way your step-dad was about to be shown up.
The 2005 GM was his safe choice.

Yup, we can have fun w/ his car....although saying he'll be shown up by a Marauder is a challange to my dad!
Either way, I think the Marquis they picked out is beautiful.

James,
Please post some daytime pics of the exterior so we can get a real good look at your new baby. :D
I've seen the GM LS Ultimate in gold with red pinstriping and it looks really nice. Your folks went with the blue with white/silver striping right ? :dunno:

I love the wood burl on the dash and doors. I wonder if it would also fit the MMs? I'd love to have it in mine. :)

Nice ride, James. I wonder if the chrome inner door handles are available in a dark charcoal color.

No, I'm pretty sure this dash was designed by the same guy that made those astronaut space pens that would write UPSIDE DOWN!
When you flip this one James, you can still write on paper!!

No, this one is kind of fun to drive like that, so I think we'll keep it:)
Here's something REALLY interesting. There's a "Quick Start Guide." that comes in the owners manual. It shows a picture of everything up front in the dash, and only that. It has numbers pointing to various things (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4...etc.) and then has a description of what each thing is and how to use it, activate it or whatever.
The interior color is a dark charcoal color that is VERY VERY nice and the steering wheel controls include a button that says "voice." Along with your standard temp and volume controls. So, I look up on the Mercury website about it and it's not an option, any Voice commands. So what is it other than some special edition that no one knows about?! Hmmmm. The presidential limo that no one has ever seen?
Here are some daytime pictures: (sorry bout the smudge on the lense.)

THE CASE OF THE MYSTERIOUS RUBBER BANDS CONTINUES! It is obviously in perfect condition (the rubber band) as there are only 110 miles on the car so far.

Those pics don't look like a dark charcoal interior. Interior is even much lighter than my Light Flint. But the exterior sure looks like a Dark Blue Pearl. One of my little cousins, I suspect.

Beautiful car! My Uncle's Father-in-law picked up a new '05 marquis ultimate, and he's much happier with it than he was w/ his 02 marquis. I may have to try and take the car for a test drive sometime
