I can get out of the car after driving it for several miles and a few minutes later I hear a rather loud pop. Sounds like metal expanding or contracting. It has been doing it since it was new. Now has 13,000 miles. Anyone else had the problem?

Normal. Metal cooling down to the outside air temp, every car does it.

I will never forget this first time I heard this. I was fueling up after running hard for a full tank of gas.

I kept thinking of "the machine that goes DING" from Monty Python

That's why I try not to get out too often.

Mine does it too, and I'll agree with f0rk: mufflers/exhaust. :)

Mine are pretty musical, the exhaust and the knees. Even after the ten minute commute home from work.

DFQ:

Does the after market exhaust still do it? I kinda like it. I like the sutle (sp?) little nuaunces this car has.

Take a corner to the right and you will hear what sounds like a paper cup rattling in the passenger kick panel!!?? Mine did this for a long time as well as after stopping......Took me awhile to figure out!!

It is water draining from the AC onto the exhaust!! You'd think they would have diverted it but probably never thought of it??

Try this......After you park run water from a hose down the right side of your windshield...You will hear the same crackling and sizzling.....Nothing to worry about but sounds bad!! :argue:

Mine makes all kinds of clicks and cracks in the dash area. It also has more squeaks and rattles than any car I've ever owned--but I still love it.

It's the water dripping onto the very hot Right cataletic converter.
My Kooks set up does the same thing.

Mine makes the worst boiling and sizzling sound when I hit a puddle on the passenger side. If it rains here there is usually a big puddle right by my house I have to make my way through to get home and when i get out my MM it is still making a awful sound of mercy as it pops, sizzles, and makes a bubbling sound.

I try to avoid all puddles as that sound is the worst.
