Hello everyone, I am new on this site. I am a proud owner of a 03 MM. I have a few questions, hopefully this is where I can ask them all. First, does anybody have an issue with your tranny not shifting properly?? What I mean is when I am in drive and either push the od button to off, or I downshift from D to 2, my car most of the time wont go into 4th gear unless I shift it out and back into D once or twice....any ideas????? other than that, the car shifts and performs well like it should. Second, I am considering putting an off road x-pipe in my MM. I went to an exhaust shop and the tech advised me not to put something without cats on my car for it will not run correctly and my check engine light will go on. Is that true??? Should I just go with Reinharts full exhaust system and bore out the high flow cats???? What is the best exhaust setup for my merc??? And last, does anyone know of any MM clubs in Florida??? Preferably in the Palm Beach area??? Thank you all for your time and I am happy this site is here..........Marc

You'll find the rank and file members are not to keen on off road or bored out cats.
The high flow cats don't hold you back power wise.
Reinharts system is good,we also have the Kooks header kit with 2 1/2" high flow cats. and another header system I can't recall the name of.

You shifting problem was fairly normal to the first 300a's on the road. The shifter cable is not adjusted properly.

You'll get a lot of florida Members checking in with you soon....

I concur...have the dealer you purchased it from ADJUST THE SHIFTER LINKAGE CABLE. If you cannot get the tranny to shift back into OD after you manually turned it off, or the occational refusal to shift into OD when the OD was on all along, and the only way to correct it is to stop the car, and shift into park and start over....it's the linkage.

ALSO:
The Marauder in general, particularly the '03's ALL have poor out of factory transmission shift EEC programming. This has nothing to do with mechanical parts, it's software, and the result is gear hunting at certain speeds, gear confusion when womping, and odd torque converter lockup/unlock points at even odder speeds. THIS is corrected with a specialized EEC flash, chip, or handheld tuner.

Welcome aboard, Marc! We meet at the Tower shops in Davie, on the 3rd Friday of the month. Attend one of these get-togethers and all your questions will be answered. I'm glad you were alerted to the shift cable. I've seen less knowledgable people tell members the transmission had to come apart. The guys here are the best-you'll love it!:)
