What is the basic warranty on a 2003 Marauder? I purchased one last week 2003, 38,800 miles on it from a private seller. Does the warranty transfer to me as the new owner? Anyone using extended warranties? For those lifing in or around Washington D.C., does anyone like Churner in Alexandria better than Browns in Fairfax for warranty service?

3 yrs 30k mile standard warranty. So, unless your seller had gotten Premium Care extended warranty, it's out of warranty.

Bumper to Bumper Warranty is 3 years and 36,000 miles for the whole car...
There is an Emissions warranty which is 5 years and 80,000 miles IIRC.
If the first owner every purchased a FORD Premium Care Warranty,
it can be transferred to you for a small fee, and it would be in effect
for the remainder of the term purchased.

If no warranty exist, you may be able to buy a USED CAR PREMIUM CARE WARRANTY
from your dealer. You will have to visit them and ask what the criteria is for this warranty.

DON'T BUY A WARRANTY FROM ANYONE ELSE !!!
They will NOT cover your vehicle like a FORD warranty will,
and a FORD Warranty is good at ANY FORD DEALERSHIP - - NATIONWIDE !

Run an oasis check on your vin. It will indicate if it's covered by an extended warranty. If so, I believe you can transfer the coverage for a small fee. ($50?) There are members of the site that can run the oasis inquiry.

Thanks fellas. Called ford and they said 3 yr 36,000 miles but I gave them my vin and they said I had a basic power train warrenty to 75,000 miles. It covers engine and transmission, but no bolt on items like alternator, air conditioner and such. Have not made it to a dealer yet to inquire about a USED car warranty, but at over 36,000 I was told that I did not qualify for an ESP. No biggie, I'm just happy to have the engine and tranny covered.

The rear end is covered, too. Emmissions is for 8/80. It covers components like catalytic converters and PCM.

You can upgrade a ESP warranty.

Thier may be a stipulation, it has to be purchaced by you as the current owner.
If the customer that origionally purchaced the extended Powertrain warranty cancels for a refund.
You may not have any coverage.
It is worth checking, if it is important to you.

Talk about timing-I just got back from my dealer (had the oil & filter changed @ 28K miles for $27.45). My OSRV mirror switch had quit working in the up direction on both sides (still worked R&L and down on both sides). It cost me $48.63 parts and labor (dealer cost?) for the switch replacement account $50 deductible which is A PER VISIT fee under the Ford extended warranty. So be aware and git evrathang done in one trip! Also-read another very good thread on this site about the horror stories with non-Ford warranties.
