So I'm under the car replacing the charcoal canister which was cracked and leaking when hit by road debris (causing my my check engine light to come on) when I notice just how grimy I've allowed my exaust tips to become.
So clever me I grab a brillo pad (idiot) to zip the grime off right.
So now they are noticeably dull to me (duh).
Is there any way that I can restore the shine befoer I order a new set from the dealer?

Is there anyone else out there as clever as I am?:(

most top end chrome polishes will buff them. the are stainless steel - ploished. jut need to re-polish them again.

Get a small electric drill, some polish paste (I like blue magic), and a 4 to 8" cotton/flannel buffing WHEEL, like that which is used on stationary grinder. Throw the paste on like you're waxing the car, let it dry a moment, and buff it off with the EDGE of the wheel.

Be careful not to do this in bright sunlight, eye damage can occur.

I agree. The brillo has left it's mark and simple hand polishes won't cut it. This method would also prove to be a real PITA.

BTW: Yes. I did the same a loooong time back. :fishslap:
It was a great opportunity to get a new set of Resonator Delete Megs and never make that mistake again. ;)

Thanks to all that replied.
Nice to know that there are others as clever as (or more clever than) I.:)

Once ya get 'em right again.... I keep one of those containers of disposable pop-up tissues that are impregnated with glass cleaner in the trunk. After running the beast through the carwash, when I park it I take a couple moments to run over what I can reach of the pipes with the cleaner wipes. Makes 'em shine purty, keeps them from getting too far gone.

If you use a Dremel Tool , you'll find that the higher RPM makes the job go way quicker and provides better results .

Just my $ .02 worth ...

Dremel? Dayum, you'll be at it all day! Get a standard 3/8 household electric drill and a 6" to 8" cotton flannel polishing wheel, you'll be done in 15 minutes and they'll look new, maybe better.

Better yet, just do what I did. Order new delete tips. They look nice and shiney, and sound much better.
