If anyone thinks that $245.00 is a good price for new valve covers for our cars,
check here. http://www.karkraft.com/modular_parts.htm
Interested in opinions.
Thanks.:bows:

I thought the 2003's were black.
Otherwise, looks like a decent price to me.

pretty good. IIRC they cost about $200 a piece from Ford. I'm not sure if they're still that pricey... Ray? 'Pita?

Fordparts has them for $128 each (list is $174 each), so $245 for a pair, new, is fair.

Hmm, it looks a lot better than the crap ones the '04s came with.

The MM valve covers are slightly different from the Cobras. The PCV boss on the drivers side on the MM is further forward than on the Cobra. It looks like it is made that way to clear the wiper box support. Check the pic and then look under your hood.

The part numbers shown for the cobra valve covers do not match the numbers for the Marauder.
Fordparts shows
3W3Z-6582-AA (list 174.18 for $128.02)
and
3W3Z-6582-AD (list $177.60 for $130.54)
So, it's very likely if you bought the set shown in the link above, the driver side won't fit. better to spend a few bucks and get the proper valve covers.
Best bet? Ask TheDealer. He can look up the exact part you need and still save you a lot of money.

I just posted a brand new pair of Valve Covers in the Classifieds. I was originally going to have some custom work done to them but have decided to just customize a pair of Coil Covers.
Save a few bucks!
PM me if you want them.
Thanks!
john
UPDATE: SOLD!

Hmm, it looks a lot better than the crap ones the '04s came with. Beware, they look better on the 'net than they will in your hands. Nonetheless, they will clean up real nice, with some elbow grease.

Yup, my take-offs aren't beauty queens. The paint (or whatever) is thin in spots and has serious cracking in others. This has kept me from putting them in rotation. I guess media blasting would clean them up pretty easily through.

That was quick! Hey Mac, need some snow tires?

Any suggestions on how to clean up the originals ?
What type of brush would you use on a bench grinder
to polish the cover ?
And what would you do to paint the cover and give a nice shine ?
I'd like to get my covers to look like the GT Coil covers.

If your going to take them off, media blasting and power coating is the best option IMO. I had new covers powercoated for installation while I had my cam towers re-torqued (tick tick tick no more). They look great and take abuse very well.
Color choice is yours of course. :)

sorry to be a n00b but this is my 1st V8. can the covers be swapped from drivers to passengers side? My 03 came with the intech cover under the intake where I almost didn't see it the 1st 3 days of ownership.

The coil covers I do not believe can be swapped. If I recall when I had mine off.. they are "notched" on the back edge facing the firewall ... the wires pass thru that area. So if you moved them to the other side the notch would be facing forward rather than backward.

I had my coil covers polished at a metal refinishing shop!

Any one try and polish the '04 covers on the car?
I know the area close to the firewall will not be accessible, but I read/see that it's a PITA to remove them.

I tried the coil covers, but it took more time to polish than it was worth. Ended up paying someone around 100 bucks to do both plates, faster and not worth those extra callouses!!
