View Full Version : Our cars are officially intimidating!!!

Well its official! Not like we all didn't already know it but our cars make other drivers think twice about taking their chances with us big boys. Example: Two days, 4 cars, no takers. 1st car was a Trans Am and he slowed down when I reved the engine. He didn't want to try. Oh well. Next was a 2005 Mustang and yet again at the traffic light the driver just didn't even want to go. See a pattern yet? Anyways, 2005 GTO. Now this guy played around a little but when pushed came to shove at the traffic light, he backed down. Last but not least my favorite was a ricer Eclipse with a lown mower exaust that started to gun his weed wacker next to mine and then was quick to shut it down when the Mighty Marauder let out a monsterous growl. Just absolutely love this car. It has "kills" without even having to race it. Just a little story I hope you enjoy!

I would love to believe you, but how do you know they wanted to race? Often times, no matter what I'm driving, I'll just hum along minding my own business.
Gah, I'm sounding old

They looked over, took a long hard stare at the Marauder and then wouldn't even look back after I tried to coax them a little...you know...a little rev of the exhaust and a little inching up at the light but nada. And this is also after I witnessed these cars driving fast and racing other vehicles on the road. So I assumed they wanted to play but no such luck.

I have one better than racing others. I laugh at some of the people who rev up at me, I laugh loud enough so they can here me over fart cans and glass packs. That usually hurts their feel bads so much they just do something stupid and I make a point.:P I will show if I have too, but this just as fun....

I like that,.. I did the very same thing to some goofy ass kid not too long ago,.. then to add insult to injury, I gunned it and left him in my smoke. :D
I love this car.
Maybe they think you are trying to trick them. I was driving a prisoner to the county jail and we passed a MM. The guy in the back asked me, "is that a narc car?" I laughed and replied "no way, the city would never buy us Marauders, they buy Impala's!!

I can't tell you how many cars I've passed on the higihway,
to have them slow down once they have spotted me.
It is so funny.
I've also scared enough people into wearing their seat belts at intersections.
Now if I could only do something to get the Cell Phone talkers to hang up...

My wife actually does the laughing for me. I just grin. :D She knows the stock Marauder can easily take all those noisy little toy cars. Kid flipped her off for laughing at his ricemobile recently. That made her laugh even harder.

:coolman: It is fun to control the flow of traffic, both in town and on the highway. Had a new GTO the other day follow me and then jumped in front of me at the light and then left about thirty foot of rubber...perhaps trying to entice me. No bite though...not in town.

I have only gotten into it with a couple of minivans and what appeared to be a late seventies Continental. Never any "ricers" or Vettes or anything. The Conti was the only real challenge.
I frequently end up driving very slow because the guy in front of me is compelled to slow way down when I get behind 'em. Then I go around them, and they feel safe and get up behind me.
I've never driven so slow, so often in my life!

The 2005 Mustang GT probably wouldn't have had much trouble beating you and the GTO might have as well. They sure intimidated easily, didn't they? No, flame intended, by the way.:banana2:

Perhaps it isn't as it appears. The other driver may simply not want to risk the heavy fine, loss of license etc. associated with street racing.

Stock GTO ought to spank a stock MM.

I was asleep at the wheel and forgot I needed gas on the way home today, so I was going to do a u-turn at one of those turn lanes that leads to a driveway but is not an intersection. It was busy so I had to wait a while, sitting in the turn lane to nowhere waiting for traffic to pass.
I have never seen so many cars hit the brakes for no reason. Of course, this just made my situation worse as I wanted them to move it so I could turn.

Come to think of it... it's possible that anyone revving their motor at a light doesn't want to race... they just want to hear the MM rev back - to enjoy it's song.
I've done that myself in my Acura and my bike. Wonder how many Chevelle and classic F-body owners ended up going to their respective web forums bragging how they "intimidated" a ricer.
The bike was always for winning though... I wouldn't let any cager take me while I was on that.

I would have to agree that we are in a way intimidating. We may not be a fast as some other stock cars, but we definately have the agressive look. Magnums, GTOs, ect., they just dont have the visual effect that we do. We also look alot like cops which is another intimidation. Some of you in states with no Marauder police cars may not quite understand, but we in south Florida have the FHP driving them and numerous local PDs driving them so its no wonder Im always doing the speed limit everywhere I go. One thing is for sure...there is nothing like pulling next to a ricer and seeing the look on his face (and his passengers) once they give the car a lookover. My favorite though is when their girlfriends see your car and give you that little wink and smile....I love my car.

The only time I notice people slowing down around me is on Friday or Saturday nights. Must be the time when all the partiers are out and keeping a close eye out for cops. They slow down and ease up real slow till they realise I'm not a cop and then they're gone.
BTW - Nobody ever tries to race me - In my case I don't believe it's about intimidation, I think they don't know that this car is fast is all. Appearance wise my car is stock, but I like the sleeper thing.

check the dates:geezer:
Depending on where you are located, Marauders are used by law enforcement. In Florida where I am, State Troopers use them and some sheriffs have them as well.
Some people, whether it is warranted or not, assume you may be a cop looking to egg on a race and then pull you over. Again, warranted or not.......
I have already had friends of mine say they started messing with Marauders in my area thinking it was me and when they saw something that made them know it wasnt, they stopped horseing around in case it was a cop.

Had a ricer shoot on front of me, this morning, trying to merge on the freeway. (one lane merge to a three lane freeway) I dropped the O/D stayed with him until the merge. We both hit IT (GO pedal) at the merge. His little piece of sh$t was pretty quick, BUT I was already in my power band and drove AROUND him like brutha was standing still. I love it when I can drive AROUND them. To have them lead, then come on like a "gorilla in heat" and drive AROUND them and hear that beautiful DOHC echo off thier door as I pass is the most pleasing feeling for me. I too LOVE this car!
