Just renewed my subscription to IMOA magazine!
I was told that many of the MM.net members only joined the readership of this publication to get a break on MVII events.
The magazine had one of the highest number of new subscribers last year. And not so this season.
Being one of those, who did not know about, or subscribe, prior to MVII.(yeah< I joined for the savings)
Just want the Members here, to know, the Mag is cool!
The only signage on my sled is the IMOA sticker. So Far!

Thanks for the reminder, I kept meaning to send my renewal but never did. Time to give them a call and re-up.

Not entirely true Bradley, but it has that appearance. Membership in the IMOA was necessary to take a lap at the brickyard, and this bolstered IMOA membership (which includes the magazine) for 2004, yes. Whether the IMOA would hold our attention after that, or not, is clearly in IMOA hands.

I was an IMOA member for three years before the MV-II event and I did everything possible to make it work for us. We have our "club" here, and the IMOA has their club in real time. A marriage of the two seemed ideal for both. Following MV-II, I was hoping to feel more welcome in the IMOA, perhaps see more events planned that would help homoginize us all together as a international club. Sadly, this did not mature.

We are still very loosely associated with each other. Some of us have drifted away, and others have gone on to form real time regional clubs rather than take advantage of IMOA chapters already established. I remember some griping about having to join to get on the Brickyard, but I had hoped that once folks saw the benefits of IMOA membership, they would feel differently. Obviously, this is not how things have worked out. No benefits matured, and today, I feel as if the IMOA simply tolerated us for a weekend. Surely they enjoyed our membership fees, but what has followed this? Trust me to say that there was no slack in our effort to make good things take root here, but it just didn't happen.

There is no magazine subscription alone, it comes with your IMOA membership. Frankly, with respect for "bang for the buck", I get more out of my subscription to MM&FF than my membership in the IMOA. It's now a year later, and I've looked back at the IMOA one more time. Yes, they have a class act going on, and one of the most impressive magazines I've ever seen from such a small club. But, it's still not there, the welcome mat I mean.

So, the wedding plans have been quashed, it was just a weekend fling after all, and I've let my membership lapse. Maybe when my MM wears "antique" plates, the IMOA will offer something interesting for this Mercury owner.

Just my .02C, carry on.

I feel as if the IMOA simply tolerated us for a weekend.
Or we tolerated them....:D
It was fun not being the "old fart" at a car event. There are local cruise nights here when we're the only four doors in the parking lot- okay with me and my grandpa car but we must have seemed like teenagers to these folks. I hope that makes sense...

Nope it doesn't.... I'm trying to say that there are lots of trends in the hobby (spinners, neon etc...) that are simply not for me or my tastes. My wig-wags and aftermarket wheels may not appeal to others but our board is a place where we can exchange ideas etc... The folks I met from IMOA were of the "factory or nothing" school of thought. I think it's more fun to mod the car to your tastes than to pick gravel out of the tires with a toothpick. That's my $.02

I appreciate the thoughts Mac&MIB

I met a few interesting folks, at the Indy event, that were there from IMOA.
I know that is a different way of thinking, for a collector.
There were several good things, that came about, from the brief marriage.
Chicago got thier first version, of the "Dream cruise", thanks to Jerry Robbins.
I did not get to go, due to several extended racing event$:o
I was told some IMOA members purchaced MM's, shortly after MVII.
Their have been articles in the mag featuring Earlier Marauders.
maybe if we showed some staying power, current MM fans could have a publication to sustain some heritage of thier own.
Did we really give the marriage, a chance?
Maybe a longer "engagement", is an alternative .I saw more ^^ than ever

Bingo! As all of the others have said, you hit that one right on the head, Sarge. I've let my membership expire as well.

If the Antique Plate's represented the Some of the rational here, instead of the vehicles age, Some of you would already have them!
