Hey All.. Well Im Strongly thinking about Selling my 03 Mach1 for a Marauder. What do you all think? Also, I know a little about the Marauder but not as much as i know about my mach1. Hows the mods on the marauder? Are there alot of things I could mod? Also how are the Trannies on the marauder...Im realy not a fan of autos becuase i like to race at the track. Will the Tranny hold up to some abuse? And will the Motor? Well thanks for the advice! you guys have a great forum and i cant wait to post some more!

The Marauders are great... but if I was 18 I'd rather have the Mach 1. Our cars can be very fast... cruise around this site and you'll see some fast stuff... but I think many of us drive them because a Mustang just doesn't fit our life any more. A Maruader will hold anything, so drive a Mach 1 while you can.

If I was 18, I wouldn't want a Mach1 :P No offense to any Mach1 owners, but the Mach1 isn't a full size four door - which is what I wanted. "To each his own."

Yah..but my thing is The Marauder just has this...look...i dunno..somthing about the dam car just ...i dunno the only way to explain it is when you look at something you lust for and it glows in your eyes...well only two cars have ever done that in my life. The 03-04 cobra and the marauder. The reason i want to get the marauder is my mach is my daily driver...and i must say..it was a bad choice on my part to pick that as a daily driver. Im young and dumb and i picked a performance car for my daily. But with the marauder its got performance and comfort. opinions are welcome.

And opinions you shall recieve!

I know when I drive my Marauder that I can't beat everyone on the road, but I do realize when I floor it I am moving 4,200+ lbs at a very nice & very smooth rate of accelleration...and per SergntMac, "That's the game." There are many performance mods out there to make this car what you want. Check our timeslips page. This car is much, MUCH more comfortable than your Mach1. No offense, but I know what the inside of a 'Stang is like and its good for some but, like you, leaves you wanting a little more.

Best of luck in your decision, I praise my car often and never look back, any questions shoot me a PM.

Hello 03BJRMach1 and welcome to MM.net !

I watched and waited for Ford to release the Mercury Marauder since way back in 1999,
when Ford was thinking of making a CV BlackHawk.
2004 was the year for me, and I purchased mine on Jan 2, 2004.
It was the first vehicle sold at my dealership for 2004.

I've never regretted the wait or the purchase.
If I had to do it again, I probably would have done it the same.

There are some things that FORD could have done, but I won't get into these here.
You can read all about them in our wonderful world we call MM.net.

If you are looking for a car with an intimidating look, a great ride,
lots of room, and lots of power, the Marauder can deliver on these.

As far as mods go, we started with almost nothing, and the aftermarket
has responded to our demands.
We have several faithful vendors who not only support our Marauders,
but they support our second home, we call MM.net.

Take your time and browse the site.
There is a lot of information here, and you will find a group
of very passionate people who love to share their kowledge and experiences
with anyone who has the time and is willing to lend an ear.

Enjoy !!

I sent you a Marauder spec sheet that I've put together, It'll explain all of numerous performance modifications that Mercury put into the Marauder from the factory. This listing is primarily for the 2004 model, but you should find it very interesting. As far as after-market mods go, the sky is the limit. It's very surprising how many. many perf mods are available for what was really a limited production car.

It was between a new Mach 1 and a year old Marauder. Once I drove the Marauder it was no contest. Yea the Mach is faster, but if I'm going to be riding for a while the big Merc takes it. As for the tranny,Fomoco has always built a better automatic than manual. You couldn't get the Talladega Torino or Cyclone Spoiles II with a manual because the manual wouldn't hold up. Ask anyone who owned a Boss 429. :burnout:

Keep the Mach I. The Marauder rules, but it's not a Mach I.

The one benefit you'd have for the MM would be that you can now travel with more women in the car. This is important. Especially when there is one girl you're after but she has a bunch of friends that she wants to bring with her at first. (If you have a steady girl - dump her, but that's advise for another day) A lot of girls won't know what the MM is or why it's special. So in that case you can buy any old full size four door sedan for escorting the ladies.

That's pretty much the advise I have for all guys in HS and college. Get the biggest car you can to haul ladies and their friends. And once you're in college... dump the steady.

Almost 40 years later, this is still true. When I moved "up" to a 1969 Camaro from a 1966 Impala SS, I had fewer dates and less company on our Friday night cruise. Why? The ladies don't like to come along alone. It was true then, it's true today, some things don't change.

Mechanically speaking, there is very little difference in the powertrains of the two cars, thus, you mod options are quite broad with either. I too, am just amazed at what has been produced for the Marauder, it would be a great thesis for any MBA candidate.

That's good to know. Mind if I quote you as the authority for this ... just in case the wife asks ??

Why not? It's how I talked my wife (to be - less than 2mos of freedom left - gasp!) to get it. "Look honey. Think of all your friends that I can haul around... with you in the car too... no really... ah! stop hitting me!!" Or something like that.

:) Welcome to the site newby! It sounds like you have some issues with the Mach1 as a daily driver and have some lust in your heart for a big four door! As others have pointed out the Mach1 is faster, but the MM is just a big lovable brute. It pulls like a freight train and scares the hell out all those rice burners. Plus you can mod this puppy till it's as evil as you want it to be. Got cash??

Hey All.. Well Im Strongly thinking about Selling my 03 Mach1 for a Marauder. What do you all think? Welcome 03BJR...

Look at it this way: EVERYONE owns a Mach 1, or at least a Mustang of some kind. They've built Mustangs for 40 years and will probably build them for the next 40. You will ALWAYS be able to buy another Mustang...

...how many Marauders have you seen in YOUR area? How much longer will you be able to buy a good one? Get my drift?

03BJR,

What RF said the best thing about the Marauder is you will not see one every ten minutes are so. Mustangs come in to many flavors to be as unique as our MM's.
I commend you for choosing The Big M though most cats your age would stick with the Mach1 for the thrill factor.....................at least till they come to their senses and get a little edge cha ma cated :).

Good luck with your decision 03BJR and welcome to the real world.
