The family wants to go camping and our Continental's lack of frame meant I had to install a trailer hitch on the Marauder to tow our camper. I was kind of bummed but Paula made the best of it by having a special cover made for the class III receiver.
Overall, it seems like a pretty good solution for the situation.
BTW, also had my trunk badge removed.

Please, Z, for the love of God, don't get him started on his trunklid bodywork. I beg you...

I am digging this from a different perspective....
How heavy is this camping trailer? I am picturing you burying some rice while pulling the camper. That would be PRICELESS!

I'd like to see what happens when you're driving along the highway with the camper and some rice comes flying by :) Will he turn around a few seconds later and "How the hell did that camper just pass me?!"

Very nice. Now I plan to get a class 1 hitch for my bicycle carrier. How much could I get the cover for?

That's why I got my hitch.

Why a Class III Hitch? How heavy is your trailer? The MM is only rated at 2000 lbs and if this is so, you would have made out with a Class II Hitch. Be careful how heavy a load you tow with your MM.
I have both a Continental (02) as you do, plus the MM (03) and both of them have a Class II Hitch. Have not yet towed with the MM, but I have towed cross country with the Continental. Total weight of the loaded trailer is close to 2000 lbs. Had no problems towing with the Continental. Although most on this forum don't like FWD, the Continental with the InTech V8 is a great car, both with and without a trailer. (BTW, this is our third FWD Continental with the InTech engine - great car and although now quite as fast as the MM, it does scoot).

Claude, I think you are very lucky to have Paula, that emblem on the hitch makes all the difference in the world....looks good.

I have a camper that weighs about 3,000 lbs with trailer brakes and sway control. The Conti probably would have handled it with no problem. I guess I just feel more comfortable with a rear drive, full frame car towing the trailer. The Marauder will handle much more than the book rates it at. They have been under-rating the towing capacity for years, IMO. With air suspension, full frame and V8 engine, I think we could easily double what the book says. A secondary transmission cooler is all that needs to be added. I think there is a member in NH that tows a model A on a trailer with his.

Check out Autozone for a MasterLock hitch lock. They have them in stainless steel. Although one thing to be considered is the opening of the hole, measure before purchasing.
