Has anyone attempted to replace the OEM 'big, ugly, uncomfortable, flat two bar' Steering Wheel? :(

If so, how does one retain all the button functions on the OEM wheel?

I put a MOMO leather Steering Wheel on my 85 Mustang GT and I love it!....
but the Mustang doesn't have any steering wheel mounted control buttons.

I've seen some Saleen Mustangs with 'add-on' control button pods behind the Saleen steering wheel spoke openings... :dunno:

I cut the top and bottom of my steering wheel off and blast the theme to Knight Rider to get the feel of a 80's sitcom while driving around. Ever Notice those Special features of K.I.T.T were never activated by a button on the steering wheel?? If K.I.T.T. didnt need steering wheel buttons, Neither does the Marauder!

LOL.....HMMMMMM......It would make the steering wheel look like something out of a Star Wars fighter!

I doubt that any aftermarket steering wheel manufacturer offers air bags in their products anyway....so I guess that I'm stuck with big 'ole two spokes. :(

Yup, I went through the same thing last year. I got blasted on CVN just for asking. I searched Momo, Grant and some other company. None make a wheel that has an airbag. Grant has a link for such things but the link leads to nothing. It's an empty page. There is also a legal thing that goes with trying to disable an airbag. It can be done but you need paper work stating why you need to disable it. There are devices that can disable the airbag but then again, you need the paper work. :mad2: Make you want to go out and buy an old muscle car. They even get away with some of the strict emissions laws. They don't require anti-lock brakes, traction control, only a two point seat belt. Some features I would stick with current day options but the drivers airbag is not something I like being forced to have. Passenger and side airbags I would see coming in handy though.

Can Zack whip up one of those 'wandering red lights' grilles like K.I.T.T. had???
Then I can commence 'a choppin' on my big 'ole 2 spoke steering wheel! Next thing ya know I'll have my own TV show....

Hawaii 5-0 Rider.

If you cut the top and bottom off of the wheel doesn't your club fall off?

I've got a set of KITT 2000 lights for my Marauder.
I'm waiting for a nice day to install them.
I just gotta figure out where in the grille to mount them. :dunno:

The steering wheel does lack style. The current batch of Ford/Merc wheels is even worse.

I wonder if the aftermarket will even attempt to make wheels that are airbag and control friendly. Not likely now, that's for sure.

Totally different. The airbag would need to be replaced too. As for the MM wheel, the only way to go is the get the wood style but it won't match or have perforrated leather.
