We our once again training our lovely recruits at Texas Motor Speedway. Any and all are welcome to come out and see how we abuse our people and cars. AND.....it looks like we will be on the race course on the infield. I am going to try to make time for MM'ers to push the race course. Cruzer, and Buckwheat came out last time around and we had a blast. This time should be all the better on the race course. Drop a note to me or Cruzer if you would like a chance. (It's fun being chased by the cops when you know your not going to jail!!!!!!!) :burnout:

Folks, this is the chance of a lifetime--last fall, John (Buckwheat), Miguel, and myself were the guests of Romo53 and had a blast watching the Cadets being put thru their paces and then having the fun of riding shotgun in patrol cars and driving our own cars thru a really wild road course--there ain't nutt'in like it!!!!! They really know how to take the Panther Platform to the limits--you'll be surprised what your car will do. The cost is -----NOTHING---The schedule is usually late evening--so --if you don't have to get up real early, you should be able to make one of the sessions ---if you haven't done the Charity Laps, this is your opportunity to drive YOUR car around the TMS oval. I'll be putting my new shoes on the back tomorrow --- I will need the extra traction. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know the fine folks that put their lives on the line every day for us. Thanks again for making this possible, Maury

I wasn't there, Billy but I believe it was Buckwheat's first MM at this event (the N/A car). He and Cruzer are both seasoned shoes and I'm sure they represented well:burnout: :D

Behold the amazing and bizarre Cruzer, Bro. He is the Kevin Bacon of the local car scene. He knows or knows someone who knows almost everyone who owns a car in DFW. He's never met a stranger and is CONSTANTLY wrangling us invitations to cool things- this by far is the neatest. Here's what happened:
He connected with the Chief Driving Instructor for a local Law Enforcement Agency- I'm not saying which one- I've never met the gentleman but it is my understanding that he can do things with a Panther that damn near defy the laws of physics. Cruzer talked him into letting his Marauder run with the P71s and the rest is history. This is not a sanctioned event. It's simply a case of this department having reserved the track for training and being cool enough to share with us.

That would certainly be a treat but I understand your geographic handicap. I know of two Trilogy cars within spittin' distance of TMS. Maybe they'll chime in or show up.

Alright, already--spent a couple hours with Romo53 ( Smitty to us from now on) this afternoon--watched the Cadets getting their first taste of pursuit--was interesting , to say the least. The program will be going on for the next 2 weeks--Tomorrow Nite (WEDNESDAY) just show up at the Southwest parking lot at TMS about 5:30 PM ----The lot is the third entry into TMS off Hwy 114 heading West on 114 after passing I-35W--or any time after that up until about 10 PM and you can be part of the fun. We will be doing the infield track under the lights and then do laps under supervision. The weather looks great--drink plenty of water and dress cool---you won't be running your air conditioner---don't want to get water on the track. Regardless---as you approach TMS, give me a call at 817-296-3819 PLEASE--we will be in three different places during the evening and I will give you radar vectors to final approach (airline lingo :-)---Just put new shoes on my babies back feet today---I'm ready to rollllllllll. They turn off the lights at Midnite--so you may be getting home late.
Now, Buckwheat ( John) DID have the s/c car last time--and they ran the h--- out of it--Smitty had it doing all sorts of tricks with John riding shotgun. ---it was chased by my car with a a police driver and me in the shotgun seat---WOW !!!!! We didn't get into the infield or on the track last time--Smitty got permission at 3 PM today. There will possibly be other sessions in the next few days--will get the schedule tomorrow and post it. Sooooo, do what you can, call me approaching TMS and we are gonna have a BALL !!!!. Maury :banana2:   :burnout:

Ok all.....sorry for the late reply and info. I have placed the burden of organization and info gathering to cruzer. This is the run down in a large nut shell: I am one of the lead instructors for pursuit driving at my department. We will be doing drivers training for our recruits this week and all next week. The night drive, which we do on the race course, is scheduled for this Wed and next Wed. We happen to appreciate the public and love to show everyone what a 4000lb car can do, and, cannot do. Since I too own a Marauder, it is a natural to "share" our fun. For whomever attends, we will try to get a ride in the marked units with several of the instructors, and get the MM's on the track. It will depend on how many people show up of course, and how fast we can "educate" our young'ins. Our instructors love the MM's for obvious reasons, so this works out well. We will be doing some "stunt" driving as well. Now I get to brag...............The people at TMS (the speedway), like the way we do business so well that we will be doing three days of PR driving with Dale Jr on the very same race course we will be on tomorow night. Chasin' the lad around in Corvettes........what fun. So give cruzer a ring if you are interested. I'll be happy to help you lose your lunch....hhahaha. AND NO JAIL TIME OR TICKETS!!!! Can't beat that with a southern willow. My name is Aaron btw, but I go by "Smitty".

Allright!!! I just got permission from all those involved - I'm driving up there. This is a really busy time of the year for me, but this just sounds too fun to pass up. Maury, I got your number, and I'll give you a ring as we get close. It's about 240 miles for me to get there, so I may be there right at 5:30 with no traffic problems, but I'm coming! Sounds like fun.

Yes, you should Greg!!- I saw you a couple of weeks back eastbound on Rendon Crowley at I35. We were in my truck and you appeared mesmorized by your Big Gulp so I didn't honk. You really should wash that car more often- looked a little dusty:rolleyes:

Not big gulp, but sluuuuuuuuuuuuurppeeeeeeeeeeee eee. I was visiting my mom in crowley, between her neighborhood and mine still building houses i cant keep that car clean. Everytime i wash it my neighbor comes over to shoot the bull and leans up on my car, that ticks me off more than anything. But when the car is dirty he wont lean on it because he does not want to get dirty. Some people have no respect, but then again he drives a POS. Are you going, I am chicken to get on the car that much and have not really opened her up. It would suck if i broke something at TMS. Just spent 2 thousand on the Grand National and i am broke right now. Still working on a CAI for the MM, trying to get a part from DR but he wont get back with me. Hope to see you guys there, i have to work on the next Chucks night but will make the Aug. one i hope.

Talk about a death wish...:shake: :shake: Maybe he'd like to take a bone away from my pit bull...Idiot.
Yep- I'm going (probably with 16 y/o daughter in tow- it'll do her good to understand how stupid it is to run from the cops). Reinhart is always very busy. NEVER send him email- you have to CALL him. When you speak with him- he'll be short and direct- nature of the beast- he's not mad at you. A retired Master Chief without a beer in his hand doesn't have normal people skills. I'll say this about him- he'll do what he says he'll do and that's damn sight better than a lot of people. He's an Ace in my book.
I understand your concerns about running the car hard. Show up Wednesday, scope it out, use your best judgement... Nobody's gonna make you drive...At the end of the day, it's a chance to hang out and maybe learn something about pursuit-style driving. I saw your post about working this weekend- you'll miss the Houston Panther invasion- it'll be cool:beatnik:

Billy, there was as much difference between the s/c and mine as there was between the PI and my stock--with the instructors driving, there ain't no way you can imagine what these cars can do--you can keep your squatty sport cars--this big old sedan runs like it is on rails. No, you waive all liability--not in writing ---and you should---it is free--the instructors give up their lunch breaks to be with you---it is a priviledge to work with these great folks--if my car gets torn up, I was the one that brought it there and gave the keys to the LEO---you are on a parking lot with no hazards but rubber cones--it would have to be a catastrophic failure of the car to cause a really damaging accident---but, you could blow an engine---a tire---burn up your brakes--but there is no safer way to do it. I'll continue to do it as long as they will let me---I have more confidence driving this car than I have ever had in over 60 years of high mileage driving in some fine cars--all Mercs.Sorry you can't be here, Maury

Thanks everone for coming out--if anyone wants to read about the night's fun, go to the "North Texas Marauders" forum--I'll try to get some pics out asap--no video this time  There is no way Mrjones and Diane, Mad3R and Natasha, Redster and crowdog and myself can ever thank Smitty (Romo53) for what he is making happen for us NTMs. It is far and above the call of duty---they give up their breaks and eating periods to be with us--and they do what they do because they love their jobs--IMHO, they are the Finest of the Finest !!! THANKS to all the folks that really went out of their way to make us happy---Three Cheers for the Fort Worth Police Department Training Division !!!!! Maury
