Folks, short notice , but if you read the thread in the "Community Discussion" you will know what I'm talking about---Romo53 (Smitty) has invited us to participate in a program at TMS. They are training their Cadets in pursuit and we can be on the tracks and courses between their sessions---rather than repeat the info--go to the thread in the "Community Discussion" (don't know how to linky). Hope you can come---see you there. Big nite at Chucks Saturday--check the threads----Maury

You don't want to miss this, it was SUPER. You could basically run the track as much as you feel like. You take one run with the instructor in the CV and then he rides with you in the MM. After that they let us go when we wanted. It's on again next Wed. If you are local or even far away, don't miss it. They had a pursuit phase with the CV chasing the MM, they got SMOKED..... thanks a bunch to ROMO53 for the invite. Call in sick, take a vacation day, tell your boss your grandmother died. It's worth it.

Just out of curiosity... what does TMS mean...

I'm certain it isn't the same meaning as we have out here. This is a family site, so I'll refrain from explaining.

This was awesome!! Most fun I've had in the Marauder yet. We dropped the kids with my mom, and me and the wife made the 240 mile one-way (through Nacogdoches and Kilgore) trip up there. It was great!

When we first got there, my wife was scared to do anything. I went for a ride with James, one of the instructors in one of the training PI's. I've always thought that I was a good driver, but these guys were great. It's amazing how they can sling those big cars around the track. When we finished, my wife finally went for a ride in one of the PI's (I think with Aaron?). His first move was to back up at about 40mph and do a Rockford-style turnaround. After making several trips around the track, she still said the Rockford turnaround was the most fun.

Once she started driving the MM around the track, she didn't want to stop. It was a helluva a lot of fun, but it was hard on the car. I told my wife before we got there that my front rotors needed turning or replacing because I could feel them pulsing, and that this little episode was going to require a new brake job with pads, and new front tires. The back tires are fresh. Funny thing is, the rotors seem smoother now than before the track session.

I had a great time. It was WELL worth playing hooky from work for a little while. Thanks for the invite ROMO53!!

I came down from Oklahoma, 182 miles, and it was the most fun I've ever had in my MM. I had always wanted to explore the limits of the car and man these cars are a blast to throw around. I got home about 2:00 this mourning and I was still so pumped that I still haven't been to sleep. Any of you guys that haven't taken advantage of this awsome inviation are really missing out. My MM is bone stock but it still pretty darn fast. I hope I'll be able to make it again next Wed. Thanks again to ROMO53.

As you can tell from the comments, we had a BALL !!!!! Smitty (Romo53 and Aaron ) really out did himself. I arrived at 5 PM and was immediately escorted to the infield track--I helped set it up and then Smitty took me on a couple of laps in the PI--then he took my Marauder and showed me a whole new personallity-- she loves to twist and turn :) Then I made a lap alone--Slow, but a real hoot. About that time, Mike and Diana (Mrjones) rang my cell phone and I picked him up at the TMS entrance and the rest is in his story. You have to cool down your brakes between runs--during cool-down Rod (Redster) arrived--same phone call--same escort in. His story tells the rest--Then Chris (crowdog) arrived from OKLAHOMA !!. He completely ran away from one of the top instructors in a PI--in fact, he was so fast, we couldn't get a picture with both cars in it  Then Phil and Natasha (Mad3R) arrived and you'll probably see their story soon. We had more than 2 hours with the finest instructors and greatest folks you can possibly imagine. They LOVE to drive !!! And they REALLY LOVE to drive Marauders.I don't think there is any commercial driving course--except the very expensive high dollar ones, that can hold a candle to these folks. Al of us had a chance to drive OUR Marauders as fast as we felt comfortable. No one spun out and I don't think we even came close--Then we stuck around and watched the Cadets do qual runs and a couple of chases. We all went home about10 PM---if we had stuck around, we would have seen all out chases with no lighting but the cars lights---Cadets confronted by surprises---Dummies suddenly appearing from nowhere--blacked out cars suddenly turning on their lights at close range ---etc--and then a chance for us to do the night thing in our cars---we were all pretty beat by 10--the heat was close to 100 and you run with the a/c OFF--so we missed the last act. My computer is acting up--I will try to post at least a couple pics tonite--NO CAMCORDER   --I'll try to remedy this next Wednesday--PLEASE give me a call at 817-296-3819 if you plan to be at TMS between 5-7 PM next Wednesday, the 27th.You can stay as long as you like---they close down at Midnite. You have to comply with certain rules to get into the area and I can do that for you if you call . first--it worked pretty good, didn't it folks ?? Will have photos at Chucks Saturday--Lets have a BIG group to welcome the Houston group--we have reserved parking for FORTY cars. Maury
I got these two to download then had failure--will post more in the gallery tomorrow:::
Five Marauders and Smitty and PI

Maury, thanks for the great recap of your fun at Texas Motor Speedway. Sounds like a great time was had by all. Glad to see Phil and Natasha were able to make it, too !! Dang ... I wish Texas wasn't halfway across the country.... 'cause I would definitely love to do this. :D
