Well its been a heck of a project the car is done we are going to get a tune on it Saturday, I got Mark's baby all cleaned up today and drove it home, this project could not have been completed with out the help of this great club, right now the car is fully capable of making over 500 RWHPwith the upgraded T Trim the car has 42 pound inj and the SCT big air Maf so we will probably tune it to the 475 range, it has a short block thanks to Fox Lake, heads were done by Dover cylinder heads, the engine has ARP fasteners and head studs, we are adding the Meziere water pump monitoring system a Viper alarm with remote start and two front window modules, the compete build is in my forum, I will post dyno numbers later, I hope to see some of you at the SCT Jerry Dyno day this Saturday.

Looks great! But, with a built bottom end and a T-Trim upgrade, why are you only shooting for 475 RWHP? Don't we have other superchargered cars with that much or more on stock motors now?

Because he would need to go to a larger injector what he has now is just fine till he gets some miles on the new motor

Mark, congratulations on getting your baby back on the street again! The car looks great!

This car will always have a special place in my heart, as I followed it through pictures and e-mails from tragedy to triumph!

Actually, me and Mark are gonna go down on the bus or joining Haggis' convoy, and driving it back to Maryland. :woohoo:

Unfortunately, I can't go 'cause I'm signed up for The Dream Cruise/MMV lll and up to my azz in 'gators, planning for the trip to Detroit. Sorry Mark, I really wanted to go.

Thanks, Dennis, it really was a team project, and we're thrilled to see the results. That engine's a thing of beauty, what with all it's clamps and labels all lined up, like little soldiers for the photo. BTW, that photo shows me meticulous attention to detail, and reflects the quality of the product coming out of your shop. Congratulations, Dennis/Mark, it's beautiful.:grouphug:

I disagree.

They're made to break, or at least push to the limit. Isn't that what we're all about; learning where the edge is?

It's what Jerry Barnes and his guys spent more than a year trying to find out.:burn:

If poor Mark's got to be afraid to push the beast, and fearful something's gonna break, he might as well let Dennis sell the damned thing, and go buy himself an f'n Camry. :depress:

Yep. Right after Kenny Brown spent 16,500 miles proving it, and I spent another 5K trying to prove it. Measurement and comparasion of the wear and tear of internals after 22K miles of supercharged beating during my build, proves that conservative building of awesome power and responsible tuning pay off. We know the limits of a bone stock engine, tranny and rear end. Now we need to learn the limits of professional building. Mark can take is MM out for a hard hitting run, and see what isn't going to break.

I hear ya, hes just too far away, but thats the beauty of Fed Ex :D waitin on my Cobra Exhaust.Don't rub it in! :) I called Dennis cash in hand (Well, credit card in hand anyway!) to order his complete bolt-on exhaust kit and he told me that it would be some horrendous fine for any muffler shop out here to install it, and to save my $. (Anyone else would have just sold me the kit and let me be stuck with the illegal install.) I really had no idea it would be a problem until he told me.

Anyway, I got his rear engine cooling mod, and tranny upgrade kit, and deep Art Carr pan, and meziere pump and some gauges instead, but it still frosts me that the car is so limited by this pathetic CA legal exhaust and low-flow cats.

I'm going to go by my muffler guy and see if there is _anything_ that I can do exhaust wise to add a few HP and still be legal. I'm not interested in boosting the sound, as with the delete tips it sounds pretty good right now, I just want the engine to be able to breathe better.

What were you trying to buy? A DR Cobra exhaust system without high flow cats?

I've had the DR Cobra exhaust on my MM for over two years, and many others here have this sytem in place as well. This is the first mention of anything illegal, please explain?

Dennis?

He lives in the People's Republic of California. They have the strictest laws which basically include a "no touch" policy on exhaust.

He lives in the People's Republic of California. They have the strictest laws which basically include a "no touch" policy on exhaust. I wouldn't exactly call it "no touch", what with all the full systems available for Mustangs and Camaros and such, but...

Two major issues- First the Cobra exhaust isn't, strictly speaking, certified for use under a Marauder. Anything that
replaces the factory system would have to have a C.A.R.B. "EO" number for it to be legal. Would the smog inspectors
ever know the difference? Not likely, but that's not the point. It's still considered tampering, and shops that get
caught tampering can find it very difficult to stay in business.

Second, it's illegal here for a shop to replace a catalyst that is still functioning, no matter how restrictive. If the
new system has an EO number, it's not all that difficult to find someone to install it, but they're technically still outside
the letter of the law.

Solution- Since most good exhaust systems are a bolt-on affair these days, just get under there yerself and Git-R-Dun.

For that matter, anyone in SoCal needs a new exhaust system hung, my driveway/tools/MIG are always available...

To the untrained eye, yes. A Ford or LM shop will spot it right off.
